I like dogs and cats both. They relate to people differently, but both somehow want to connect with people. A dog will lie on his back, and this means that he or she wants you to rub his or her belly. Simple. Cats are a little more complicated. They will also lie on their back, but it seems like it is just a subterfuge. Their real agenda is to ambush you. Also, I noticed that cats will stare at you with a mean look. But is this really a refection of their emotions? If looks could kill I would be dead. Curiosity killed the cat is another saying. This is confirmed by my experience. My cats aren't supposed to go in one of the rooms. It is off limits to cats. But if I leave the door open for even a second, they are in there instantly. Perhaps they are being territorial, and want to expand their region of control. This also seems to be true about cats. Dogs and cats don't like each other, but they seem to get along if I am there to supervise. But if I left them alone together I am sure the result would be a catastrophe.
