Best known as half of country superstar duo Brooks & Dunn, country singer-songwriter Kix Brooks will bring his solo act to Eagle Mountain Casino on Friday night, May 18.
In 1990 Brooks teamed up with singer Ronnie Dunn to form Brooks & Dunn, and became the highest selling duo in the history of country music with hits like “Brand New Man,” “Lost and Found,” and “If You See Her.” Together they sold more than 30 million records, won more than 75 major industry awards, had 23 #1 hits, and set a new record, breaking a tie with Alabama as the duo or group with the most Top 10 country singles in history of Nielsen radio monitoring.
Since parting ways with Dunn in 2010, Brooks, 57, has continued numerous entertainment endeavours including an ongoing stint as host of long-running syndicated radio show, American Country Countdown, a gig that also earned him National Broadcast Personality of the Year award three years ago.
Looking to kick start a new phase in his career, Brooks has been working on a solo album to be released this year. He is joined on the first single and music video, “New to This Town,” by guitarist Joe Walsh from the Eagles, and recently cracked the Top 40 of Billboard magazine's country charts. Known more as the songwriting partner rather than vocal front man in the Brooks & Dunn team, time will tell whether Brooks’ solo career can continue at the same hit making pace. Ronnie Dunn’s self-titled solo debut was released last year and has produced 3 charting country radio singles.
