Social Distortion Rocked The Dome
Last night was my first Mike Ness and Social D concert. I arrived late but got to hear the second band. I thought they had great energy and sound. Then when Social D came on stage, things seemed to really heat up. I don't think I have ever seen that many people sweating at once. People were having so much fun rocking out, singing, running, body slamming, and pogoing. Yep, pogoing, as the lady next to me bounced, she said it's more fun if you Pogo. I replied, my knee is bad - I'm pogoing on the inside. We may see Social D back but I don't think it will be in the dome and if it is, I highly doubt it will be a summer show. I heard the sound men make some remarks about the heat. They seemed really upset by it, using a little profanity. I have to agree with them on the heat. Why a bakersfield promoter who knows the heat, would not have had some AC on early in the day and some commercial fans blowing somewhere, is beyond me. At the end of the night I moved to the concession stand and stood under one of the two ceiling fans. There I saw their encore songs, and had a better view of the band than I did standing inside the dome. I hope to see them again.

A change in attitude - let the flashing begin
It's odd how times have changed.  I look back to the 70's, 80's and 90's, when I used to go out and dance.  My friends and I had so much fun.  We would never think about going into a place alone (heaven forbid someone may think you were an easy piece),  even dancing together was odd because you wouldn't want anyone to think you were gay.  And never ever would we dream of showing our breasts.  Times have changed.  I still have a love for music and enjoy watching local bands perform.   The most significant change I've noticed, are the differences in women then verses now.   I guess I would say it's a change in attitude.  Women still enjoy going out but they have much more confidence, the stigmas have vanished (thank God)...they will show up alone, dance together, share a friendly kiss, and often times they bring out the twins, the girls, the boobies, thats right women show their chi chi's.  And guess what, it's not the end of the world.  It adds to the excitement and adds to everyones good time.  Yep there are a few who may think "oh my" and act embarassed.  Then you see those same women trying to get extra peeks or befriend the flashers.  I like now verses then.  It's all about having a great time.  Let the party begin.

the only thing good that came out of the 70's is roller disco the only thing good that came out of the 80's was me, and the only thing good that came out of the 90's was No Doubt.

but i remember once i got into a bar at 19 to get free drinks me and my friend made-out in front of the bartender. I say hey, free drinks, it was my friend, and i i had fun.... Everyone has slutty moments i guess. but it was a long time ago... funny memory's to look back on.

Times have changed, for the better.  I've noticed the frequency of flashing the "chi-chi's" too, and I think it's a very good sign.

I'm not saying that just to be juvenile, either.  The more naturally we regard our bodies, the more mentally healthy our society will be, IMHO.
