Don't ... Touch ... My ... STUFF!
It's Monday ... I'm sure you understand by now that I don't like Mondays. Yes, I have a F'ing case of the Moon-days. This Monday morning I wake up, I still have that cold, so I really don't feel like going and sitting in a cube for hours anyway. Once I get here I immediately notice something wrong ... there is a Jack In The Box soda cup on my desk, and someone left their bag in my cube. Okay fine, I know the people who aren't assigned stations will sometimes use my computer while I'm away. I'd rather they not ... but what can I say? So I pick up the cup half full of warm soda, and walk with an extended arm to the trashcan, then dump it in. Next I take the bag and place it in my bosses cubicle. Then I sit in my chair and feel better ... things are just about right - until I turn my computer on. B**** changed my settings! OMFG. All the links for the programs I regularly use are not on the control bar at the bottom, and the worst part is SHE CHANGED MY BACKGROUND!!!!! I like my photo of London, I switch between two because I like to stare at them and pretend I'm standing there. But now it was a generic ocean with an island and palm tree with blue skies background. Okay, nice, whatever ... but it's generic and I really am not in the mood for blue skies. After I changed my background back to my gorgeous pic of Kensington Palace Sunken Garden:
I felt a little more right with the world. Until I opened my top drawer. You know that little post it note I stuck in there that said "Get Your Own Pen" ... well, it was moved to the back of the drawer. I feel so violated. 7 comments from 5 users

I know how you feel! I hate when people sit at my desk and move stuff around. And how dare they change your settings and computer background! That's just plain rude! I like your London pic. I always use pics of places I've traveled to so I can mentally escape there a hundred times a day just by looking at the picture. :) posted by

I wish she had a desk to pillage ... but I did give her a good scare when she couldn't find her bag. Instead of just asking me she looked around the building frantically. Then when she was standing near me and asked someone else if they'd seen her bag I said "I put it at Slow Poke's desk" I told my boss how my computer was tampered with, he knows how I'm a bit OCD about having my stuff touched (after I tried to just calmly flip out on him when he removed a file from my drawer, lost it, found it, lost it, then finally found it again. He's notorious for loosing stuff and now will pull a file then sit at my desk and read it. He forgets to put it away, but at least it stays at my desk). He grabbed a stick it pad and wrote "Please do not change computer settings. If you have any questions ask me - Slow Poke" then told me to stick it to my monitor. Along with that I made a couple labels for my drawers that read "This is my personal drawer, please do not open. Thanks!" And on the monitor I put a label that reads "Please do not change computer settings. Thanks!" Maybe I can kill more flies with sugar. Eww. posted by

Matildakay - I keep postcards that my friends send me from around the world so I can stare into those too, and live vicariously through them :) posted by
