CubicleDweller - > Diary of a Corporate Slave -> CD's not sleeping again ...
CD's not sleeping again ...

And boy do I feel good!

You'd think that a lack of sleep would make me into a complete nonparticipant with this world.  Normally it does, but the last four nights have been different.

The first night I couldn't sleep due to a little yapping dog who recently found his voice.  Night two I took some Cubicle Dweller's Little Nighttime Helpers and slept okay, just took at least an hour to fall asleep.  The third night I took another CD Little Nighttime Helper and zonked out quick enough, when I finally went to bed much too late.  Then last night I decided to forego the pill and play Russian Roulette with the Sandman.

I won.  I tossed, then I turned, then I feel asleep (yappy dog was oddly quiet).  Then I had the most terrible dream that I woke up crying.  What was the dream?  Well, it took me long enough to fall back asleep that I can remember it vividly ... a coworker brought a huge python to work to show everyone.  I do not like snakes, so I just kept to myself in my cube.  They were all speaking another language to each other and kept making side glances at me, I lowered my chair hoping to hide and just not be noticed.  Snake taming was not something I wanted to participate in, it was freaking me out enough that it was within 20 feet of me.

Then the cubie with her big scary snake smiled, but I know her well enough to know that she smiles for many reasons and they are not always nice.  She called to me, "CD come look at my snake!"

"Um, no thanks I can see it perfectly well from here"

"Come on!  Come look at it closer, you can't see it well enough from there", then she began walking closer and the huge snake was slithering from around her shoulders to the ground.

(OMG I'm freaking out just typing this and remembering it, I need a biscuit for being so brave!)

Then BAM! they were next to me and that huge snake was slithering around my feet.  By this point I had jumped up from my chair and exited my cube so I wouldn't be cornered, but I couldn't turn and run fast enough.  I was paralyzed with fear.  That huge slithery snake tripped me, I fell backwards and could feeling it slithering under my back.  I was just screaming for her to get it away from me, when I finally managed to wake myself up.

Eventually I fell back asleep, only to awake from another scary dream that I'm sure Mr. NL Belardes himself would appreciate.  I don't remember the details of this dream as well as the other since I was able to fall asleep much quicker since spiders don't creep me out as much as snakes, but still ...

I was on a porch wearing a short sleeved shirt.  There were a lot of spider webs and one huge bulbous black widow sitting in the center.  Someone called my name and I turned to reply thus catching my arm on a web and pulling it down.  It was the web that big black mama was sitting in.  She was not happy and began her decent toward my body.  I managed to break loose of the web and hoped she would go about her merry way of repairing her web as I bent down to grab spider killer to douse her with.  Whoever called my name before began talking to me again so as I reached down for the spider spray I turned my head to answer and again misjudged my distance and was once again tangled in webs.  This time I could not move away quick enough, she was watching me and took the moment to steadfastly moved down her glossy thread.  I was shaking and jumping around like a maniac, trying to get her to fall to the floor.  My wild dance was not working.  She was on my arm, I kept trying to knock her off and could feel her big ass brushing my palm, but she held steady and began moving quickly on me.

Needless to say I woke up with a start kicking and flailing my arms sitting completely upright.  Just to be safe I did a cover check ... no scary widows hiding there or on my pillow.  Okay, phew ... I felt wide awake, had to pee, so I did, then checked my clock.  It was 6:30 - I had an hour more to sleep and even though I felt like I was on crack I love my bed so much I quickly snuggled back under the covers and finally this time around I pulled the trigger and the Sandman won.

After one hour of lovely lovely dream free sleep, I pulled myself back out from under the covers and made my way to the office surprised with how alert I feel.  Must be the fact that I began taking the morning Cubicle Dweller's Little Helpers again.
