The Man!

Damn the man who put me down.  It's a conspiracy, I swear.

So I get this email from the head boss today:

Corporate Whore,

I noticed you were wearing headphones today. I know you were not at the last staff meeting so you may not be aware that headphones for listening to music are not allowed in staff work areas. However, they can be used as part of a telephone headset. Thanks, The Man.

To which I replied:

Hi The Man,

No, I wasn't aware of that policy. Thank you for letting me know, I will refrain from using my headphones. Rest be assured that while I was using them I didn't miss any phone calls because I kept it at such a low level I could even hear another corporate slave talking at her desk. They will not be used in the future. I understand why the policy was instated, some people abused the privilege by turning their music up so loud they couldn't hear anything else.

Though I'd like to mention something to both you and Slow Poke ... I have a few "disorders" which I am medicated for, but even so sometimes I am still overly irritable. So there are days when I would use the headphones to block out the noise of people crunching on chips, smacking gum, or obnoxiously singing or humming to themselves. The low tone of music was just a white noise distraction. I will try to find another way to block this out, maybe my therapist will have another suggestion or can up my meds.

**********************

Like today the Gerbil is singing. It's not pretty. Oh and when Fat Ghost starts in with her arabic warbling or opera (off key, really off key), or Chatty starts humming (again off key). The Gerbil won't shut the hell up and I have my headphones out and I think I'm about to split a seam.

Thank god I only have 1/2 hour more to go.  After I sent that email back to the Man he's walked by my desk like 3 or 4 times and each time I could sense that he wanted to stop and talk.  But you know what?  I'm glad he didn't because I really don't want to have to verbally tell him that I'm crazier than shit.  Is shit crazy?  Hrm.  So anyway, maybe he'll discuss it with my boss then they'll both tag team my ass in a private office - or maybe they'll just email me back (hope that's the case) ... but maybe they'll just leave it as it is.

Wait a minute ... aren't they supposed to make special circumstances for people with disabilities?  I mean if me having ear phones in my ears a bit out of every day, sometimes not even that much, will prevent me from going postal on all of them, then maybe they should just let me listen to my music.

Wow!  What a coincidence, they must have picked it up from the discount rack at the same Japanese store that I shop at in the mall.  Hehe, they must not want their cup used either.

I think I'm going to take his staples out of his stapler for a week and see how he handles it. hahahaha And NO I'm not kidding. It will be fun. hehehe

Another good use for a cup that big is knocking the people who take your food out.

So you can relate right? I love my STARBUCKS mug.. it's freaken HUGE! I drink water out of it all day.

A cup as big as yours... hahahahahaha

Oh no he didn't!  Starbucks mugs are sacred.  I swap mugs out every once in awhile ... but my favorite is my Starbucks mug from London because it's oversized.  Several people eyeballed it and said how they wished they had a cup as big as mine.  As I write this I am about to crack up, because that sounds so wrong ... anyway, they never snatched it ... if they had I'd of killed them.  Currently I have a mug that no one would think of using as it has a naked man with a little peter tossing his coffee mug ... it appears to be flying around the mug and about to knock him in his head.

That bugs me too. :)
I get to work and my PEN is gone. grrrrrrrr! LOL And I don't mind if it's a Bic.. but I get a lot of free pens with my name on them from companies .. you know.. that want me to buy from them. And so when those are gone I do tend to get bitter.
And once somebody used my personal STARBUCKS coffee cup over the weekend because they ran out of disposible cups. And that just plain grossed me out. ewwwwwwwwww. WHO DOES THAT? Sick bastards. I gave him the OJO but I don't think it worked that time.

That is just so wrong ... food should be sacred.  I'd split a seam if someone took my food!  Hehe, you put the juju on him!

Yeah, I don't much care about office supply's being stolen off my desk, I just re-order them for myself.  Recently a box of large rubber bands slowly started disappearing, but most times people would ask for them.  Then one day I came to work and what was a half empty box the day earlier was now completely empty.  What bugs me is when people touch my personal stuff ... I can totally tell as soon as I sit down.

hahahaha OMG I get so many things stolen off my desk even WITH my name on them. Who cares. Not me. It's not like I paid for them. I just request new ones from Human Resources/office staff and I get one the same day or the next day.

I LOVE MY JOB!

AND I can listen to music whenever I want. Just no headphones or ear thingies. Just doesn't look professional I guess. But it's professional for me to listen to my Rock en Espanol, and my manager listen to his jazz and our other manager his country music... and we try to "drown each other's music out". hahahah

Although you know what I do hate about where I work? FOOD IS NOT SACRED. Everybody steals food and could care less about it. I once even put a note that said whoever eats my food WILL get diarriah for a week. They didn't care. Bastards. Then the next day the person that took it confessed to me he ate it. And got diarriah. HA! I warned him. I put vodoo all over that Olive Garden leftover. That's what he gets. :) Don't mess with a short chubby Mexican and her food. She'll give you "OJO" and I"m not kidding. :)

Someone actually took my stapler ... and other days I would show up and my chair would be gone.  I finally taped my name to the back and put my initials in permanent ink on the lifter lever.

That's exactly what I was thinking. You don't know how many times I get asked to impersonate the "I was told I could listen to my music at a reasonable level," scene from Office Space...

:P

It could be an interesting Office Space type movie :)

This would make a great voiceover. Let's make a movie dammit!!!

If I don't have my headphones on to block out office noise, my co-workers think something is wrong.

Niceeeeee...
