Initially,I thought I was having a bad bout with the flu.As fever overtook me I realized that there was a 1/4 inch wide wound and discoloration at the base of my right thumb.The underside of my right arm became inflamed and swollen from the wrist to the armpit and felt as though I had sustained a first degree burn.Breathing was extremely labored as the fever reached a peak of 104 degrees.............At one point as the fever increased it was extremely difficult to stand,let alone walk.I began to recall quite vividly and accurately things I had read or learned regarding insect bites,Brown Recluse bites,Black Widow bites,neurotoxins,necrosis,respiratory arrest et cetera.....I began to have portions of my life playback through my mind.......The real miracle in all of this is that I never lapsed into panic or fear....I even had a moment of relative hilarity as I realized my physical end may be at hand;Ironic that as a recluse,I had inadvertently disturbed an arachnid capable of ending my life....I have never feared spiders of any type.....Growing up under the care of the archetypal Grandfather,knowledge of these things was imparted to a precocious,gregarious and mischievous young boy with the proper and natural understanding engendered by a life Hiballin' the iron rails;with accuracy and fair warning.These things were to be understood in balance with the nature of things,to be respected and understood,not to be feared All things have there place regardless of their intrinsic ability to do harm or not........As a deeply spiritual individual that has diverted energies from the strictly physical and material, my nature is to feel a responsibility to state plainly and humbly that it was my spiritual nature that defeated the toxins....I have absolutely no doubt that the over-the-counter antihistimine and massive doses of vitamin C in combination with about two and a half pounds of raw garlic and fresh parsley also helped.....(To Be Continued).............
