Hooverville Rounders on "Entourage"
Well, it looks like we've found our niche in show business. First it was MTV, and most recently the Hooverville Rounders made a cameo appearance on HBO's hit series, "Entourage". We're rapidly becoming the old, un-hip band being sought out by TV shows appealing to a young, hip audience. At first we thought maybe it was our high cheekbones, pouting good looks, six-pack abs, and 3-day stubble that was making us the darlings of Hollywood. Now it's becoming more apparent that it's the casting agents just can't locate a good-looking banjo player, so they're opting for the Burl Ives vibe oozing from the band. We're seen in the background on-stage for the last scene of episode 509, which originally aired on November 2, 2008, playing "Cindy" from our cd, Good Time Music for the New Depression. Immediately following the close-up on Steve's face, the camera cuts to the series' protagonist, Vincent Chase (played by Adrian Grenier). The look of dismay on Vince's face is all too clear as he realizes that, if the acting thing doesn't work out, he may have to learn to play the banjo and say goodbye to all the high-end Hollywood hotties throwing themselves at him with promises of sexual favors. Don't quit your day job, Vince- hillbilly music ain't for the faint of heart!
Location:
Mojave & East D Streets,
Tehachapi, CA 93561
The Hooverville Rounders will be playing "Bakersfield Blues-Grass" this Saturday, 8/18, at the Tehachapi Mountain Festival from 2:15-3:45p. Sitting in with the Rounders on mandolin will be none other than Iceman of Old 99. Immediately following the Rounders' set will be our buddies FattKatt and the Von Zippers, so it promises to be a great afternoon in the park! Good music, cool weather, wholesome family fun, and it's FREE, ya cheap bastards!
