A Shift in the Fabric of Bakerality
And yes, I do plan on copywriting "Bakerality"... soon. Until then, here are some thoughts, deductions and generalizations from perhaps the only truly "out" gay man in Bakersfield.

So Much To Do...

Well, ya had to know it was coming. I don't think two minutes passed after the California Supreme court wisely overturned the vote to ban gay marriage before I was looking at china patterns and color schemes.

So before that inevitable referendum is put before our Governor (something he publicly promised he would not endorse) we- Stephen and I- are planning on getting hitched. I'm tired of living in sin.

But there is sooooo much to do.

Where to tie the knot? I know I don't want to get married in a church...

Who to invite? Do you think Harvey Hall will come?

Where to register? Besides the obligatory Home Depot and Macy*s...

Where to hold the reception? I know who I want to have as my Best Man, but I think Stephen might have a tough time choosing.

Fall or Winter wedding? Should I wear white?

Don't want a Church. Try this place. I had my wedding here 10 years ago, outside on a beautiful fall day!  Wedding and reception took place here 30 guests and my whole wedding was under 2,000.00 http://www.noriegahouse.com...   Or you could get married in one of Bakersfields many art gallery's. I think you should go with a color that best suits your skin tone after all you want to look your best! I wish you the very best!!!!! I absolutely love being married!

They have a lovely small rose garden just inside the front gate. Beware though a car wash sets just behind the large outdoor stage area, but the smaller gazebo is quaint and quiet! Makes for beautiful photo's!

Stephen (my betrothed) usedta work for Harvey back when Hall Ambulance was first starting out- worked for him for 15 years as an EMT. I doubt Harvey would even remember who he is anymore.

In any event, we have plenty of time. With the heat coming on we've decided for  a winter/early spring ceremony. Of course, by then things could really have changed. Guess we'll haveta wait and see........?

I'd love to be a bridesmaid. Never been. Even though I have four sister in laws who married AFTER me. hmmmmmm. Maybe I shouldn't be one. Maybe there is something wrong with me I don't realize? Like a third eye? Or a crooked neck or something? Never mind. Either way. .. good luck with everything!!!

Congrats, how exciting!  I think the Noriega house is beautiful :)  My mother also had her cake done by Smiths, it was yummy - but believe it or not, Albertsons has pretty yummy wedding cakes too!  Target and all the Bath and Beyond type stores also have registries.

Twinkie, you do not have a crooked neck ... but maybe a third eye, that's hidden?  ;)

Joe, thanks for remembering me!  Yes I could officiate and would be honored to officiate if you need an officiant :)  Reading that sentence made me laugh, oh the things that amuse me so!
