Contrary to what many of these (and other) comments seem to suggest, there are people here who care passionately about the outcome of the gay marriage issue. I can't say "oh, it doesn't affect me" because the new law has the potential to affect so many loved ones that I do feel some degree of connection. And even if that weren't the case, I feel so strongly about the issue that I imagine I would want to get involved anyway. I'll be extremely disheartened if the ban is upheld, and I know many others - gay and straight - who feel the same way.

Ralph Bailey brough up a  costly  situation to the table today about gays, gays in prison wanting to get married.  I think that MIGHT effect me, it's would be my tax dollars. I'm not all for that either sorry.

yep i listened until the went off today at 5:15.  By the way i didn't get to hear all of what Jazz said about the concert but  it was funny. I had the whole back row to myself pretty much, until he walked in with some blond.  he said in my seat,...technically speaking  well it was kind the communal seat. I was center   in that last row before the doors and with the light fadders and  audio board behind me. to the right a guy that looked like he was having some fit. Jazz was to the left with his  "Team Glock" shirt on. I never spoke to him hahha that would have been an interesting conversation. I wanted to ask: "so hey Jazz is the  cart label still there in the back of KNZR with my name  on it. Back there by the sound baffling?"  I'm just curious to find what all he said. He was all pissed that everyone wasn't being very very quiet and not talking their hats off for Ted version of the national anthem. I looked over and there he was(that's when I noticed him)  he had his hat off and was acting like  he was observing his moment of  silence. I think whooping and yelling is OK at a concert. Maybe they were expressing their  love of freedoms, or listening to a  talented  guy play his ax!. I think if at a ball game or somewhere somber or sober it's fine, great. But C'mon a rock concert? Rockers are naturally rebellious. I think they have the right to  yell and still have their hats on. Anyway. just wanted to share that moment of McKayness Annie

By the way I noticed he left and came back a few times, he mentioned he sat down i was on my feet the whole time rockin out!

 Good evening, Peeps! I returned from Wisconsin about 5 hours ago and I'm still beat, trying to catch up on some much-neglected stuff and all-around unmotivated to do more than watch TV.

In going over the last number of posts I can certainly appreciate how everyone is more-or-less able to express themselves without it becoming a cyber-throw down. And yeah- joe, my hackles did raise ever so slightly. You still seem to be under the impression that if there are greener pastures, why not go to them. The point is that no one should have to leave their home (regardless how long they've lived there or why they chose it) to achieve some sort of happiness. Stephen has lived here all his life- 56 years! why for goodness sake should he have to leave everything he knows and loves, his very family (son, DIL and 2 amazing grandsons)? Homes are made into happy places, not by having people leave, but by people staying and making it happen.

Don't get me wrong, I believe your intent is a good one. And I'm sure I sound a bit stubborn. But the very idea of turning tail is simply abhorent and cowardly. In truth, the real question for me is this: If I am perceived as not being happy in Bakersfield, what can Bakersfield do to make this a happier place? I think I'm already doing my part (above and beyond if you ask me). What is everyone else doing?
