The air is buzzing here in Kernville last night and today. Big fire in the mountains started yesterday behind James Store and has crossed up over the mountains toward Weldon. Many planes dropping fire retardant (probably coming from Porterville, Twinkie) and water carrying choppers. Smoke not coming our way. but a wind change would do it.
Fav lady lounging around with her boot-cast waving her arms around and giving orders (not). Trying to practice new recipes from the Californian and Rachel Ray or make up some. I like to cook but.... She will be unable to do anything but perambulate on crutches for another two weeks and then maybe light weight on good foot (the one which she broke ten years ago.) Someone said at least she will be OK by the hottest weather. Cleaning lady coming tomorrow, and daughter Paula in the afternoon (maybe to fix supper?) ![]() My fav lady fell last Saturday and broke a bone in her foot. Hours in the ER confirmed this so today the foot doctor put her in a "boot cast". Wow. Ever see one of those? Huge. Black. Covered with straps, and a pump to air it up. Needs to wear it at all times except showering. But the good stuff. No surgery needed unless something goes wrong. Next 6-8 weeks will not be fun, but she can get caught up on some quilting I guess.
Hi Santa Barbara lovers. I found this in my archives. Thought some of you might like it.
A rose is a rose is a rose.
Well made it home without need for having anything cut off, sewed back on, nor disinfected. Guess the docs are OK with the old body. Didn't even need a quart of transmission fluid added. Kinda gray and cold in SB but that kept little ones out of the hot tub outside our room.
Don't know if fly droppings are insect excrement or not but didn't see any, I guess. Wait. That was because I said people do that. Well, still didn't see any but saw a bunch that looked on the verge. Didn't pick up any madras plaid bermuda shorts either. Not hot (cool?)for Kernville. (Nor old skinny legs). Some poppies on the ridge but way up there. Carpinteria has steak-house I saw that says "Like is short. Eat dessert first". Could be good advice.
Well here we are in Santa Barbara today. Here to have the bod check over by the docs at Sansum. We made this appt months ago, but didn't realize it was Easter vacation so the city is loaded with students, kids and parent types. So far OK. Tomorrow the big finger if you know what I mean. Feel OK but at my age, people drop like flies. Lab tests report later.
