My latest letter from my friend Al.  Some may remember the photos!

Well this is my last full day here in paradise and I will be glad to see the last of it.  When I came into Kabul from the airport Saturday, I saw a big hole in the road outside the airport where they hit one of the US convoys on Thursday.  Makes a big hole and melts the asphalt all around it.  Not going to miss thinking about that possibility for a few weeks,  Iraq won't be any better, but you do what you need to do.

Rattlesnake season is about to start, and their bites can be horrendous.  There is vaccine for your dog but not for you!  Be alert and aware.

These pictures show the extreme amount of care needed to avoid amputation or death.  The patient was treated at UC Davis, required 13 surgeries, 20 months of treatment and $700,000 medical bill.
