Born gay? Here is a website to read. http://borngayprocon.org/ Here are a few pictures of the Winchester House. You think our gasoline is bad? Check this out. Do any of you ever stop to think about how blessed (fortunate if you don't like "blessed") to live in our Central California area? I know I am old, but even when young we were able to do so many things from our area. We lived in Bakersfield for 28 years while our children were growing up. Go to the ocean? Only a few hours away, and there are beaches which are public and free. We used to go to the Hacienda Hotel on South Union, and use the pool. Go to the mountains? Been to Yosemite or Mammoth lately? Want a big city? Go to LA or Frisco. Only a few hours away. Or Vegas, if that is your preference. Next week we are going to the desert. My brother in law lives a short distance from Laughlin NV, in Arizona, and you can get a room in a nice hotel in Laughlin for $20 a night. (By the way, and weird, we are meeting a woman for lunch in Barstow who was Maid of Honor at my first wedding. Haven't seen her for 50 years. Scary? No, I think it is amazing.) I can walk to the Kern River, and fish in about 15 minutes. We have a private beach which belongs to our community here in Riverkern. Our air is clear, and we can see stars. When we need a city we can drive to Bakersfield in about an hour. And at night, it is so quiet. Unless Ron across the street goes somewhere on his Harley. But he is cool, and doesn't crank it up until he is a block away. Blessed are we. What an area to live. I love Porterville. I love Bakersfield. And I love the Kern Valley. To my grave, I am grateful. (No, I am not planning on dying soon.) This is Don talking. Thanks for all my friends and family, especially Fave Lady. And may it last for a long time. Oh yeah, we sold our trailer, and were planning on just a few short trips using Motel 6. Well we happened on an older Class B motorhome (van with beds) and we couldn't resist. So, this summer we may have to post from such exotic places as Pismo, Morro Bay or even Clear Lake. (Dinky Creek anyone?)Wait and see. We are excited.
