Need info on a good digital recorder for cheap?
According to Radio Free Bakersfield
A "record company" that will remain nameless has been making the rounds of MySpace lately, pitching a compilation CD to a LOT of unsigned acts. Basically their pitch is you get a song on said CD for a $600 fee. I hear they're real smooth talkers. I have no way of proving or disproving that this is a good deal, but in the words of Jimmy "The Weasel" Fratianno, "if somebody offers you a get rich quick deal where YOU have to pay money, you're gonna get fucked." Use some common sense before you commit, umkay? Google 'em, talk to a lawyer, ask around. This has been a public service announcement from Radio Free Bamalama. This almost happened to me 2 weeks ago and to the Kookoonauts 2 years ago. Two years ago, the Lawrence High School graduate moved to Nashville to get serious about developing her songwriting craft. Already her musical abilities are starting to turn some heads. In 2003, Ray was named "Champion Singer" in a nationwide 14-week competition sponsored by Coors Light. She was also a state finalist in the 2003 True Value Country Showdown. And her original song "John Deere Queen" was featured on the national John Deere compilation album.

From: True Talent Management <info@truetalentmgmt.com> To: Undisclosed-Recipient@yahoo.com Sent: Wednesday, August 1, 2007 4:22:59 AM Subject: Need somber song ASAP TODAY about redemption, making mistakes, trying to change - to replace Ben Harper's "There Will Be A Light" - blues, soul, spiritual feel $3-5K all in - or like Jackie Allen/Van Morrison's "When Will I Ever Learn" *Please forward this email to any artists or bands you may know who may fit this description*
**Note: Due to the volume of emails and songs we receive, If you do not read and follow these instructions, we will not pitch your song.**
**Only submit music for this project if it meets *exactly* the style we are looking for. (If you think "I'm not sure if this song will work, but I'll send it anyway" it probably won't and will just be a waste of time for us to listen to. Please note that there are thousands of artists on this email list and we receive so many mp3s for each music request. It's incredibly time consuming to listen to songs that clearly don't fit the criteria, so please be respectful and only send appropriate songs.
Also, DO NOT ask us to "check out track 3" on your CD (or send us a web site link for the song). We have hundreds (thousands) of CDs here and there is never time to do that. Thanks in advance for your patience and understanding.) Future music needs will be sent soon.**

If you do not own both your master & publishing, please state who does i.e. name of indie record company and/or publisher.
Note: If the song is a co-write, you MUST list any other songwriters and note if they must sign off on the publishing license or if you control 100% of the publishing.

Seeking the following music:
1) Need to replace Ben Harper's song "There Will Be A Light". The song will play over a montage after one of the characters has had a sexual encounter off base. The episode concerns religion, and he has just told the audience that he will never do that again. So we're looking for something with a blues, soul, spiritual feel. They like Jackie Allen's version of Van Morrison's "When Will I Ever Learn" for this cue as well. We need lyrics that deal with redemption, making mistakes, trying to change, etc. The mood is somber.
The song you submit must be easily cleared in the $3K-$5K all-in range. LISTEN TO Ben Harper's "There Will Be A Light" - TRACK # 10:
LISTEN TO Jackie Allen's "When Will I Ever Learn" - available on rhapsody:
Mid-tempo female vocals about God and religion.
Lyrics here:
(No cover songs and absolutely NO SAMPLES can be used in any songs you submit.)
***IF APPLICABLE, YOU MUST LISTEN TO THESE ARTIST's SONGS BEFORE SUBMITTING ONE OF YOUR SONGS - DO A SEARCH ON ITUNES, AMAZON, RHAPSODY, etc. DO NOT EVEN THINK OF SUBMITTING YOUR MP3 BEFORE YOU'VE LISTENED TO THE ORIGINAL SONG***
MP3s MUST SENT by midnight, Fri, Aug 3, 2007 - mp3s must be < 4MB
8) IF requested:
Mail CD with post-it note on CD with chosen track highlighted (i.e. post it would say "TV-Ben Harper replacement" to:
True Talent Management
attn: "TV-Ben Harper replacement"

Note - CDs MUST BE RECEIVED NO LATER THAN - DO NOT SUBMIT CDS FOR THIS REQUEST
**Note: Due to the volume of emails and songs we receive, If you do not read and follow these instructions, we will not pitch your song.**
Thanks!
You are receiving this email because you have either sent us music in the past or are an artist or band that we've heard great things about (or are otherwise involved in the music business as a manager, attorney, A&R, etc).
To unsubscribe from future event notifications, please email: unsubscribe@truetalentmgmt.com and specify if you'd like to unsubscribe from True Talent's database entirely or just from our music requests. We certainly can't imagine why you'd leave though since we've placed now over 45 songs in film/tv, including "Sex and the City" and "The OC". Major labels, artists and managers have asked to be added to the list.
