Help getting your Applications ready for colleges

When you first start your decision process of where you want to go to school, don't hold back from applying to your dream school (if of coarse you have one). Trying to get in will inform you what it takes to get in and if its possible or not. Don't just automatically pass it by. An admissions councelor once said a guy who didnt have the best of grades or outside references but had the ability to write an essay to convince Harvard that he was a willing canidate to the school. He said in his letter that he needed the help by getting his feat in the door. He sent a shoe box with one shoe in it then said, " I already got one foot in the door, will you let me get the other in?" The creativity got him in! But this isn't where I'm going with helping you start your application process is it?

1. Print out your application for the school you want to go to. Having it in  your hands is easier then doing an online application becuase you can edit and correct and show other professors what your going for as well as councelors. After filling it out then you can do an online application since you will be set to go.

2. Get your Highschool transcripts mailed out. You will need to go to your highschool with an envolope and a stamp with the address of the school in which you wish to apply to.

3. Get your college transcripts ready as well. You might have to pay for the transcripts so if your going to BC you need around 30 bucks when you go depending if you want it rushed or just standard mail. One transcript is 4 dollars, rushed mail is 8 dollars more.

4. Get your recomendations done early. The college or highschool teacher will need time to write out what they wish to send so give them at least a week to do it.  Include a short description of things that you might want the professor to know about you incase they don't know a more personal side of you example: a religious background or a sport your passionate about.

5. If you have any problems of questions make sure you know your councelor at the college your applying. They are the easiest ones to discuss what you need to know about transferring and so on. Even scheduling a date to visit the school if its around the area.

I hope this has givin you a small heads up on what you can expect when you go to apply for colleges.

On point 3:   The first two transcripts from BC are actually free.  Anything after that is going to cost you though.
