Burning my candle from both ends ...
Recently I signed up to start planning my 10 year high school reunion, okay, no biggie ... Just how do I track everyone down? Ugh. I'm also trying to plan a trip to China in April. I want to bring my daughter along ... but it says to get a VISA she needs to have had a passport active for at least 6 months! I'm just applying for her passport. So I'm going to call the Consulate and beg, plead, whatever. It would be such an educational and inspirational trip for her. I can't wait until next year because my friend won't be living there anymore and I really want to use him as tour guide. My dad and mom also both want to come along, but they expect me to make all the travel plans. Anyone else want to go to China? And now I'm considering becoming Co-leader for my daughter's Girl Scout Troop. Seeming as I'm the only parent in the troop that was once an actual Girl Scout. I've already been enlisted to help with the badge work. They call me "Hippy Mom" - apparently I don't fit the soccer mom profile, I don't drive a mini-van or SUV, instead I drive a Toyota Corolla with a "Defend America, Defeat Bush" bumper sticker ... oh and I know how to sew, knit, make marshmallows from scratch, and start a freakin fire with flint or sticks. I'm also not afraid to camp outdoors. Our last GS trip was to the snow to earn the snow badge. Instead of going to the GS cabin in Tehachapi we went to Shaver Lake and stayed in a 2700 sq foot house owned by our Troop Leader's parents. NICE! I remember when I was a GS, we slept in tents, or outdoors, knew how to read a compass, cook over a fire, build an outdoor stove, and administer first aid. Amazing what 20 years can do. 5 comments from 2 users
