Don't make me go Bakersfield *Raccoon* on your a**?
Several years ago, when a man was mauled by chimpanzees at a nearby animal rescue center, a phrase was coined ... "Don't make me go Bakersfield Chimp on your ass" Well folks, looks like it's time to rephrase that to "Don't make me go Bakersfield Raccoon on your ass". On Sunday, a possibly rabid raccoon, let's call him Rocky, attacked a father and his daughter visiting CALM. The man kicked the raccoon in its head until it released his daughter, allowing her to run away - but Rocky Raccoon wasn't finished, he turned his caged up wrath on the father ... 5 minutes of terror, a severed finger, possible concussion, and at least 15 punctures and gashes later, Rabid Rocky was subdued by a broomstick wielding zookeeper.

I made the mistake of reading this during a meeting this morning and had to choke down a laughing fit. Not laughing at the poor victim, really, just at the description of how he jumped on a tree limb and then it broke and the racoon went in for the kill. Oh man, I'm getting the giggles just thinking about that visual. Kind of comic right?! That racoon was a toughie for sure, being kicked repeatedly didn't faze him! Seriously I hope the guy is ok and I'm glad his daughter was safe. posted by

Faith, I read the article to my best friend over the phone and she went into a fit laughing, not because he's hurt, but the mental image of a crazed raccoon & some poor guy having a death match. posted by

Wild racoons up here in the Kern River Valley often weigh 45 pounds or more and are meaner than a snake. They stand up on the hind legs and hiss, show their fangs and paw the air with their very sharp front claws. Not to be messed with. It's too bad some fool had it in a cage as a pet in the first place. He is the one who should have been injured. And if it were wild, it would have run back down to the river bottom where they live. posted by

Glad to hear I wasn't the only one who found the visual to be quite comical. Again, wild animal horrible attack but the description was like something off of a Comedy. I think the guy was getting rabies treatment even though they said the animal wasn't infected? I agree, nobody should have kept that animal as a pet. posted by

Hmmm perhaps Rocky thought that Ian's name was Dan, and was just trying to settle the score for breaking his heart by stealing the girl of his dreams,..Her name was Magil and she called herself Lil , but every one knew her as Nancy,... posted by
