No more Drive-In theatres in Bako?

Grew up in Bako thru the 70's and 80's,and the drive-in was a huge part of my life.Back in the day we had the Crest, the 99,the Terrace, and the South Chester.Buddy of mine told me the Crest was the last to go.Just think it so sad.Anybody else remember them fondly?

Oh hell yeah all of them! seem one  showed  X rated films ,.well X was  usually  explict violence, like  A Clockwork Orange. The Terrace was almost right down the street for me. I lived on the corner of Terrace Way and Hughes.  The 99 I remember being a kid and going to Oildale with my Dad  sometimes to go see  friends and my sister and I would crane our necks to try to see what was playing.  The Crest was eventually turned into a swap meet after awhile wasn't it? Seems they showed a lot more skin back in the day too!

When I was a kid, we used to put my parent's mattress in the back of my dad's old truck, pop up a big grocery bag full of popcorn and head to the 99. Was really great to all pile into the back of the truck on a warm summer night and watch movies with the family. There was always a double feature too!

I miss the Crest drive in!  Unfortunately, it is an auto mall now.  C'est la vie!

I remember going to a drive in with my friend Carlita. Her mom took us. It was the ONLY time I ever went to a drive in  as a kid.

Hell yeah I miss them, that's why I go to the Drive-In over in SLO whenver I'm there. They play the sound over your radio now! A trip to Longs just before the movie makes for a fun night.

I remember the Crest Drive-In very fondly. I had my first date there, with my now husband, back in '94. It was raining, and he sprained his ankle, when he slipped going from the dirt to the cement. It's a night we'll always remember. We went on closing night as well, and have a speaker and a popcorn bag as a souvenier.

It's now an RV park, and has the Crest Bar and Grill, which is supposed to be really good.

Just this weekend I went to the Drive Thru in San Luis Obispo and watched a double feature for $6!  Incredible Hulk and Indiana Jones (so glad it was a double feature, might have felt cheated if I'd of paid full price to see the new Indy movie).  I wish there was a Drive Thru here, I miss the old Crest!
