GEPRS has had "many" people share their

stories of Hauntings and Paranormal experiences.

But this happens to be one of our very favorite

stories.

So in  the "Spirit" of the season we would like to

share it with you now.

Although GEPRS has not yet formally investigated

this account we think it is a great source of

Bakersfield's "Haunted History"....Enjoy

The Story:

There is a report of a "Haunted" location in

a Bakersfield  home that has quite a history.

The current owners of the home report that

there was once a very kind woman that

owned a group of houses that were

considered at the time "new homes" on the

out skirts of Bakersfield, CA.

This home is near the Oleander area.

It was 1942. There was about five houses in

this area and most of them were being

rented out to Japanese families.

{GEPRS has recently done research

and ran across the story of a Japanese

Cemetery in that same area.

But that's another story}...

Well as you may know 1942 was a time of War

with the United States, WWII and there was

a lot of suspicion and mistrust towards the

Japanese people.

Therefore the majority of the Japanese

families in Bakersfield where relocated to

Internment Camps all over the United States.

There were a couple camps in our desert

area's of California. But on studying this a

big majority of these Bakersfield families

went to a camp located on a Indian

Reservation in Poston, AZ.

The family that lived in the house was

no exception.

Before the families were shipped off the

kind owner of the houses told her tenants

that she would keep the homes open for

them as long as she could so that when the

war was over they all could return to their

homes and live there as long as they wished.

Well unfortunately this did not happen for

some of these poor people. Although it is

recorded that the people were well taken

care of in the camps some were very old

when they were moved there and did not

live long enough to go back to their original

homes.

One of these people was a very old Japanese

woman that lived in this house with her husband.

This couple was reported to be very kind

and friendly and they grew flowers and

various plants for a living.

Their "home" to this day has descendants

of those very same exotic plants growing

wild in the back yard. It is lovingly

maintain by the people that occupy the

house to this day.

The Haunting:

The old Japanese woman did not live to see

the day in which the war would end and

they would move back to their beautiful

home in Bakersfield.

The current family that occupies this home

has reported on many occasions that the

house is haunted and very active.

Especially by the presence of this woman.

The atmosphere of the house is nothing of a

malicious and or negative nature but more

of an element of gentleness and love.

As if the Japanese couple has returned

and are caring for the house as well as the

family that lives there now.

Most of the family members report actually

seeing the little old woman and on many

occasions have had full conversation with

her while sitting at the families dining table.

Or walking out the back door. This is were

the garden is in the back of the yard

surrounding the home.

They have seen her there tending the

plants and flowers. They still see and talk

to her to this day. So although this is not a scary

tale it is one of our towns history and that

of a woman that refused to leave the home

that she loved so dearly.

WE ARE RE-POSTING THIS FROM LAST YEAR BY POPULAR
DEMAND! GEPRS

Well Its Almost That Time Again Kids..

"Halloween"

When ghosts, goblins, banshee's, pookas, and various other creatures of the night come out to play. Most of which are people in costumes looking forward to some fun on the one night of the year when you can use your imagination and be someone different or be who you always wanted to be.

But it is also a time when the veil in between this world and of the world of the dead is at its thinnest. To those of us in the Paranormal Investigative World it is not only a time of heightened activity among the deceased but it is consider by some a time of remembrance and respect for those that have past on. Many friends have asked about  what locations are Haunted here in Bakersfield. I will include a couple here. But remember that some of these places are businesses and homes and private property. It is also the last place that a person spent in their lives or chose to go back to when they past away.

So, please be respectful to the location and the people that reside there...With that being said have fun..haha!

Are you ready for....
The Top 5 Most Haunted Locations In Bakersfield!!?

NOTE: Hauntings Do Not Only Occur At Night But
It does Seem To Be At Its Strongest When Day To
Day Active Is Calmer And Quieter. But We Have
Obtained Just As Much Data And Reports In The
Day Time Hours...

1) Bakersfield Californian Bldg.

Location: 1707 Eye Street

Severity Of Haunting: Fair To High

Details: A German Shepherd Dog awaits eternally for his master to come back to the building, An old Security Guard keeps watch of the building, The Former editor of the paper is seen on occasion.

GEPRS Results: We have experienced some pretty strange things in this area as well as most of the buildings stretching around the downtown part of town. Starting at California through to 19th street on down.

2) BHS Campus

Location: 1241 G st.

Severity Of Haunting: Fair To High

Details: A young couple about  16 to 18 years old is often seen  on the upper part of the bleachers. The girl wearing a prom dress, the boy wearing a BHS letterman's jacket. (Also what has been discovered is that human bones were un-earthed during construction stemming from a hospital that was once there. Bones of medical amputees).

GEPRS Results: We have had many reports of sightings and activity here. Especially from people that have performed at the theater or worked in the various buildings on the property.

3) Downtown Bakersfield

Location: 18th, 19th, 20th, to Chester Ave.

Severity Of Haunting: High

Details: Most of these area's have had reports of some sort of activity or sightings. Most are private residents therefore we can not divulge the exact addresses. But there has been many reports of  patrons and employees of businesses being touched. A ghostly dog has been heard barking {see Bakersfield California}. Ghostly figures have been seen wandering. There is one home that has been rented out, vacated, and rented out many many times over the past few years because it is so active with spirits.

GEPRS Results: Two member of GEPRS have personally experienced ghostly activity at this resident and also at a house not far from the other. {Note: That we have discovered that most of this area had once been an old city Cemetery. Most of the inhabitants had been exhumed and moved to Union Cemetery but obviously not all of them. Bones are still reported being found when construction takes place. As well as sightings of ghostly figures.}

4) Garces Circle

Location: 30th St & Chester Ave.

Severity Of Haunting: Low To Fair

Details: Father Garces is known to weep, move his hands, wave his hat, move his arms, and whatever part of his body that he can move. Usually to warn of an appending car accident or fender bender. (Personally we think he is just tired of standing in the same place. hahaha! And "Ironically" there had been talk of moving the statute to make a new Over Pass so he may get his wish.) So as long as you are careful and don't get into an accident or hit by a car at the circle, there may be a good chance to see this highly reported phenomena on Halloween Night.

GEPRS Results: None to report except what we have been told.

And last but not least:

5) Kern County Museum

Location: 3801 Chester Ave

Severity Of Haunting: High

Details: Probably one of the most concentrated area's of active houses of buildings ever assembled. These are houses and buildings from all over Bakersfield and surrounding area's brought together into one spooky place. They may be having a walk through and for a small fee you too could have an experience like the many that have been reported there. {Once again this is a private area after a certain time so please only go there during business hours when the museum is open}

GEPRS Results:

A few especially active places are the old school house were children are still heard singing and talking, the old jail that has a feeling of despair and sorrow, and if you stand on the slab of concrete that is reserved for entertainment, located in the center of the surrounding buildings. You will always feel like someone is watching you from the windows of the buildings themselves.

Well thats about it..there are many many more locations but these are just a few that are regularly reported to be Haunted.

Oh wait ....one more just in...

6) Central Park

Location : 21st & R St.

**Caution : It is not a safe area to go there at night, so please use extreme caution**

Severity Of Haunting: Low To Fair
{We have rated this based on the many reports we have
received, but not from actual data or investigation.}

Details: There is a ghostly woman in white that is seen floating around the area. It has been reported that actual human remains of a woman have been found there. One account is that the remains had a bullet hole.

GEPRS Results: The reports of the human remains all here-say
and in no way have we confirmed it to be fact.

**People have asked the members

of GEPRS what experiences stand out

most in our many adventures of

Paranormal Investigating?

Well, we can tell you of the several

incidents that we have had being

touched, pushed, pinched, etc. by unseen

Entities.

Video and Pictures capturing misty

figures, Orbs, and even skeletal faces

within orbs and in the top of a trees

at many cemeteries.

Or the many spooky and fascinating

EVP {Electronic Voice Phenomena}

recordings of human voices that we

have accumulated.

The list goes on....

But the one strangest and we must say

"unexpected" incident that would stand

out in our wanderings with the group

has got to be when....

 GEPRS Ran Into Bigfoot!!

Yes my fellow Bakotopian's B.I.G.F.O.O.T..

The famous hairy creature that has been

sighted and tracked all over the world.

The story goes:

We had met up with some fellow

Investigators from the San Fernando

Valley.

We had planned and just completed a

very successful investigation at a famous

and very haunted location in Camarillo, Ca.

It was a place that we were very familiar

with and had been to many times before

as had other Investigators before us.

You could say it is one of the "Hottest"

and most haunted places that any

Paranormal Investigator might go and

be guaranteed to get some sort of

activity or have some type of experience

"every time".

As we left this location we had recalled

seeing a sign on the way to that location

that noted a cemetery.

We had said that if we had time after the main

Investigation we would like to check it out.

If anything to secure a possible future

investigative location.

It turned out that since we were already on

a "paranormal high" and as I had mentioned,

came from a very successful hunt, we were

"intrigued" and "pumped up" to discover a

possible new location.

So we decided to go ahead and go down

the road and see what we could find.

It ended up being a very "long" road and

went some ways into a remote and

wooded area.

But once we got there we found a very well

maintained and manicured Cemetery.

It was a beautiful calm clear night.

No moon and slightly over cast but very

pleasant. To those of us that are

"sensitive" the electricity was in the air.

Partially because of the "supercharge"

of our senses of the previous location

But basically all the conditions were

right that evening for something to happen.

With all our senses heightened we were

very aware of our surroundings.

It felt at first calm and peaceful.

As I mentioned a perfect resting spot for

the dearly departed.

Definitely an active place. But nothing violent

or negative.

The impression we got was more of curiosity

from the residents within.

For we did not believe that this location

would usually receive many visitors that

late in the evening or after hours.

We moved through the cemetery

with Audio & Video Recorders in hand

for several minutes.

Commenting to each other how beautiful

the area was.

But as we walked on further an uneasiness

fell upon us.

The group started to walk towards an area

off to the side of the main Cemetery area

and across a small access road to another

area where there were more headstones.

Behind this area and all around the property

there was a heavily wooded area. Very dense.

Like a great wall as if holding the inner area

within.

All of a sudden we heard crashing through

the woods.

The various sounds of frogs and other night

creatures that you could hear previously

fell silent.

We stopped {pardon the pun} dead in our

tracks.

Reluctant to go any further.

We actual had made recorded comments

about the change in the atmosphere.

And that we all really felt uneasy and

should rap it up soon to leave.

All of a sudden you could hear a loud

blood curdling scream!

At first only two of us heard this

sound.

You can hear us saying on a recording

"What was that"!

The scream was high pitched and held out

for a few seconds.

Directly after there was more crashing that

you could clearly tell was coming closer

to us.

That was our cue to get out of there!

So we all said our short goodbyes and

headed to our cars.

We bolted out of there as quickly as

possible.

Well to make a long story short. Naturally

we wanted to check all of our data to see if

we had captured anything on our recorders

or video.

{You see when investigating often we

can not see or hear things around us

and will not discover that anything

happened until we study our audio

and video tapes}

**Special Added Note: Only on occasion

will we hear things audibly. So we do believe

that it was some sort of a "Live" creature

and not that of a ghostly nature. But again

it is not yet completely determined.

As luck would have it we recorded

something!

We captured a recording of "the scream"!

Personally I had had experiences in Oregon

with weird smells and sounds that could

have been Bigfoot but were never confirmed.

But this time we had a recording.

We sent it to a noted Bigfoot Investigator

and he sent it to a sound expert on Primates.

He sent back word to the group that in

there opinion it was a confirmed, genuine

recording of a primate, possibly bigfoot.

Well of course the scientists that we are

wanted a second opinion.

We try to get as many opinions and

information about our data as possible.

We intend to do that soon.

But we do know that something very large

and something that has a very loud scream

lives in that area.

We hope to some day "dare to go back" to

investigate the area more thoroughly

and to see what we may capture again.

Over all it has to be one of the most frightening

and disturbing incidents that we have ever

experienced.

**YOU CAN HELP GEPRS:

If you know anything about Camarillo, Ca

and about any of the Cemeteries there please

**Note that we do know that at one time there

was a Zoo or Animal park in the area and

that it is only "rumored" that some animals may

have escaped. But these are simply rumors

and not substantiated as fact.

THE LEGEND OF LA LLORONA
The infamous 'Lady in White' story is one of the most famous ghost stories, re-worked and re-told by generations.

By GEPRS, Bakotopia.com Contributor

There are many known stories and versions of this "wailing" or "crying" female ghost all over the world.

La Llorona..

She was, in most stories, a beautiful Spanish woman, well known and respected in her community. She was also a mother and had children from a previous marriage.

Over the years she becomes increasingly lonely for no one wanted her companionship, let alone marry her as long as she had children in tow.

As the story goes on, the woman falls in love with a wealthy man that did not want children. In desperation she drowned her children in the river {or pond, or lake, or whatever body of water} that was near her village. After the deed is done the man decides to marry another woman. La Llorona realizes that now she will be completely alone and some say out of remorse for what she has done. And therefore she commits suicide.

Thus committing two sins per her religious beliefs...

Her tormented restless spirit walks abroad at night, crying out :

"¡Ay mis hijos!" (O my children!)

Or she will ask you "Has visto a mis hijos?" (Have you seen my children?)

She cannot rest because of her sins, and is forced to eternally roam the world in search of her lost children, carrying a hatred for what has happened to her. She is bent on revenge and will coax people to come near her with her beauty - especially little children.

If you fall into her grasp, she will transform herself into an old ugly hag and drown you in the closest body of water.

Some say this story was told to ensure that children would come home before it got late at night or to stay away from the river or water unattended.

Another version says that even one look at her, or by the mere mention of her name you could be cursed.

How many times have you said her name out loud?

Could the famous White Lady of Central Park in downtown Bakersfield be La Llorona!? After all, there is a canal in the park, and La Llorona is often seen near bodies of water.

If you feel sorry for her and attempt to help her find her children, BEWARE!

Now on that pleasant note, here is a yummy drink that will hopefully ward off the curse of La Llorona...

La Llorona-Broken Heart Margarita

Ingredients:
1 oz lime juice or fresh lime
1 oz Blue Curacao
1 oz tequila (NO cheap stuff!)
-crushed ice
-sea salt or kosher salt
-Cherries and sliced lime
-Start with squeeze of lime - then place all ingredients in a shaker.
-Shake lively. Saying a prayer of protection 13 times (Hey it can't hurt, right?)

Place a single cherry in the glass. This represents La Llorona's broken heart. Garnish with lime if desired.

Pour in glasses with salt on the rim, or throw a pinch of salt over your shoulder for good luck. Then ask that La Llorona stay away from you - In a nice way of course.

**Remember to drink responsibly! You may run into La Llorona in a downtown bar and wake up with her the next morning! Ay Chingao!
