I'm going to be writing about independent film, my own film projects, and a diary account detailing the making of my first independent feature film as I progress.

There's many many companies out there that distribute bad horror movies on video. A few of which I know of that have openly accept submissions for distribution. I had a weird idea. What if I make a bad horror movie and have a small company distribute it, then I use whatever little money I might get selling the distribution right to make Next Exit? I had this idea, somewhat inspired by Grindhouse, that instead of trying to make a good horror movie with nothing and having it turn out shitty, what if I just actually make it shitty, but funny, in that accidental Ed Wood kind of way. But instead of speanding 20 million dollars to make a movie look like it was made for tens of thuosand of dollars, but I spend literally nothing at all to make a movie that's supposed to look like it was made for nothing at all? I thought of making it like an old '50s chiller movie, with flying saucers, zombies, and a lot of bad special effects and acting.

I think I could literally spend next to nothing on it, and it would work. In some short films, my friends and I have carried on an inside joke of intentional continutiy errors. I could take al these intentional mistakes and really push them to a ridiculous extreme, and if there's anything that actually is accidentally bad, no one would know the difference. I figure, if I'm going to go through the effort of making a feature film for nothing that no one will see, I might as well do somethign creative, and turn it into a joke. I could probably make the thing in a few days if I did it Ed Wood style: one take at everything, stock footage, and scenes that go back in forth from night to day. I think it would be a fun way of getting my feature filmmaking feet wet, so to speak, and create something amusing that I wouldn't be completely ashamed of. it sounds like a crazy idea: having no money to make a feature film, and making a feature film, and selling the distribution rights so I can fund a good movie. It's just so crazy it might work, assuming it gets distributed. But if these distributors would pick up "Killjoy 2" then maybe I have a shot. Plus, if I make it for nothing, then I have nothing to lose except a little bit of time, and I know it would be fun to make anyway.

Sounds like a solid plan to me, My thing is that I think buy doing something like that you do a few things you get your feet wet and you gather a timing and understanding for shooting a feature, it's like practice. You don't wanna practice with your game shoes on, nooo you use some ragged shoes to get your moves down. I think by just organizing, scheduling, budgeting and dealing with a time constraint in making the movie it will give you invaluable tools that will put you years ahead of those people that talk 10 years about making their perfect movie but in the mean time just wait for their fairy god mother to make it happen SCREWWW THAT! It's the 21st century and you have every tool you need to make it happen just remember; man who tries big things acomplish nothing but man who does little things accomplish great things....

The revolution will not be televised it will be digitized...
