There are five million books out there that push themselves as "The next Twilight" or "If you liked Twilight, you'll love this." And frankly, it's usually a lot of fooey. Twilight is different from anything else, which is what makes it the "phenom" it is.
I started reading this book when I really shouldn't have (I had a big project for school I had to get done, and I read this instead.) I read it in a day and a half. I can honestly say that if you liked Twilight, you will like this book. I can also honestly say that if you are fed up with all the Twilight mania, and you like supernatural fiction, or true-love stories, you will like this book.
How can people from both camps enjoy the same book? Because it is that well done.
Shiver is about an independent teenage girl named Grace and the wolf she loves. It is also about a soulfull, beautiful young man named Sam who is in love with Grace. This might seem like a love triangle set up, except that Sam is Grace's wolf. But he's not the only human heart inside a wolf's skin out in the winter woods, so Grace and Sam's fragile, fledgling relationship faces more danger than just Sam's struggle to stay human.
I absolutley loved it, which is why I couldn't put it down even though I had very important things to do. I loved it so much that I'm thrilled that it says the author is working on another book with these characters called Linger. I hope it is out soon.
The draw back of this book is that if you fell in love with Edward or you fell in love with Jacob, you are going to have to add another fictional guy to your heart throb list. I'm totally Team Sam now...
