It's the Music

It's always the music that gets to me.

*When the wedding march is played, and the bride walks down the aisle, at my own wedding, or that of family and friends, here come the tears

*At my Godson's highschool graduation the other night, at the very same school my best friend (his mom) and I met at, and graduated from ourselves, the second the band hit the first note of Pomp and Circumstance, the water works turned on (for both myself and my friend on that one)

*Today, at the funeral of my husband's boss/friend/mentor, we made it most of the way through just fine, until the Marine outside the door of the church played Taps, the river of tears was overflowing with that one

In thinking about other moments in my life, there is always a song to go with it. Old country songs that my dad listened to, while working on his cars, or down in the basement, when I was a kid. The Sean Cassidy 45's that my mom bought for me, that I would play at full blast, on my record player, in jr. high. The great 80's music from all my highschool dances. The song that is "our song" between hubby and me.

When I hear one of those special songs, I am right away transported back in time, to that very special moment when it meant so much to me. Some make me feel happy, some make me feel sad. Some I just like to turn up and sing to, at the top of my lungs! (which I often do hehe!)

What is it in your life, that you attach your memories to?

I don't know if it's because my parents struggled so much and worked so hard to be in this country, but everytime I hear the National Anthem I tear up. It's expected now so much that when it starts my friends and family look over at me to see "if I'm ok." hehe.
