AUDITIONS: A Piece of My Heart

Auditions for Shirley Lauro's A Piece of My Heart
Directed by Kimber Peaker-Lozano

Saturday, January 19 and Saturday, 26
Noon to 3pm

The six female characters in A Piece Of My Heart are seen over a 20 year period, from the 1960's to the 1980's. For this reason the roles will be double-cast so that each character is represented with both a younger and older version of herself. The characters are as follows:

MARTHA:     22-42. Strong, self-composed, aura of self-discipline, military bearing.  Strong face, American, almost pioneer in feeling. Army brat, and Navy Nurse who is a bit more mature for her age.
 
MARY JO:     17-37. Blond, pretty, out-going, bubbly personality. Texaas accent.Sexy; a funny comedienne quality; but sad inside. Must learn some Simple guitar and be able to sing. Lead singer in an all-girl band traveling w/USO to entertain the troops.
 
SISSY:     20-40. Sweet, feminine, outgoing. Sense of fun. Also, a sense of harmony and warmth to personality. Idealistic, very religious.
 
LEEANN:     20-40 Attractive, strong, tough, determined in nature. An urban, hip quality to her personality. Protested the war, thought nurses volunteered to serve in Viet Nam.
 
STEELE:     35-55. African-American. Extremely strong, military bearing. Very intelligent, outgoing, great sense of humor. A pragmatist, southern. Career Military in WAC's and an officer.
 
WHITNEY:     21-41. Tall, slender, withdrawn, contained. Very aristocratic in bearing and quality. A graduate of Vassar. Red cross volunteer, very prim and lady-like, comes from affluent family and considers herself to be very worldly and cosmopolitan.
 
BIEN:     16-25. Asian, small build. This character plays all Vietnamese characters as well as additional roles.
 
FEMALE 1:     Multiple roles of head nurse, mother and nursing instructor.
 
FEMALE 2:     Multiple roles of recruiting officer, Officer and friend

3 MALES:     Playing multiple roles of soldiers, officers, veteran, father.

Performances: March 14, 15, 21, 22, 28 and 29 at 8pm
