Sloth fairy

I have a little fairy that follows me around.  His job is to keep me from exercising.  To do this he employs magical powers.  He can make me dizzy or short of breath or disoriented.  I'v learned to combat most of these attacks but he srung a new one on me.  I was 45 minutes into my cardio work out when he taps me on the shoulder.

"I wouldn't do that."  He says.
"Get bent" I reply.
"I can stop you."
"Do your worst."
"My worst?"
"I know all your tricks."
"You think so?"
"That's right."
"Well don't say I didn't warn you.  RELEASE THE BOWELS!"

Suddenly my nice little 5 mph jog becomes a 10 mph sprint.  I become a run away comet made of flying elbows and fist.  The weak the elderly the infirm all fall before me as I make a photo finish in a metal box of shame.

And the sloth fairy just laughs.

Screwed again

BCT had promised and promoted the fact the Spider Baby the musical would be in this season.  Since our parting of the ways they have decided to drop it from the schedule.  Nothing was signed so I have no recourse.  Other than cry myself to sleep and bemoan what might have been.  I almost talked Brian Siversiend (a better director than myslef) into heading up the production.  It's their loss really.  Though I have to say they are taking it very well.

I'm opening in LA?

That's the last I heard.  A group calle the Berubians is opening Godmakers soon.  But they won't call me back and tell me when.  And they won't put it on their site.  Theatre people!

But just in case

Just in case it is happening I contacted some friends to do some artwork for the show.  Dale Berry did a smashing drawing of the super hero group the Liberty Battalion.

Here's the uncolored original

And a rough color draft I'm working on.

He also has this one of the Cobra I'll be posting soon.  That's the grey guy.  They are so awesome I wept just a little when I opened the box.

The story of Godmakers

Godmakers actually started out as a lie.  Seriously.  A local gallery was having a show about comic art and encouraged local artist to contribute pieces.  I put together this fake retrospective of a company called AFS.  Most of the characters had already been created for a comic series I did to promote my music act.  At the show people mentioned how they remembered this issue or that one and I being a natural lieing mc lie man just went along with it.
I even went so far as to pretend to be an expert on the history of AFS comics.  Off the top of my head I talked about their long and storied history.  How they started in pulps.  How they barely hung on for decades.  I talked about some of their more famous artists and writers.  I talked about their publisher an English immigrant based and made the story more realistic by basing him loosely on my grandfather.  On and on I went for what seemed like hours.  Tying this cover into that story.  The emotional impact of this this defeat or that small victory.  Till finally someone said "Really?"  And I said "No I'm making it all up."  And then they were mad at me.
And rightfully so.
It wasn't till a few months later I realized the story was pretty good.  So with a few additions and, unfourtunately, one or two things left out for time and clarity of  story I had a new play.
All based on a lie.

How to make new friends

Let me introduce you to one of my myspace friends.

I was researching other rock horror musicals and came across this little gem.  Through myspace no less.  Sounded interesting so I rented it.  Let's just say it wasn't my cup of tea.  I wrote a scathing review on Netflix.  So much to my surprise the author/composer/star sent me a myspace message.  Basically telling me that while he's upset by the review it was well written and that he still liked me.
This began a several month correspondence and I believe even a friendship.  He's actually a really nice guy.  Which made me feel bad for trashing his movie.  So I will say this.  Maybe I didn't like it but maybe you might.  Give it a try.
Oh and apparently bad mouthing his work in public gets him to like you.

I love my Sloth fairy. In fact my sloth fairy is an actual sloth. It likes to cling to my arm cause the little brat is too lazy to fly. I now know not to ever anger my beloved fairy, release the bowels does not sound like fun. The liberty batallion looks better w/o the color.
