George Thorogood before his return to Bakersfield's Fox Theater on 4/12/07 !

The guitar legend known for bringing the blues to MTV in the '80s with his hit "Bad To The Bone,"  visits the Bakotunes soundlab to give us the lowdown on what makes him and his band, The Destroyers, tick.

Did you know?
-George Thorogood hails from the not-so-bluesy state of Delaware?

-Bakersfield, CA is one of his favorite places to stop while on tour?

-His first record company stalled the release of his debut, because they didn't have any money for a album cover photo. George took his own with a Polaroid to speed up the release.

-Thorogood's signature classic guitars have been stolen so many times, he makes his crew sign a liability contract to assure their safety on tour.

-His classic rendition of John Lee Hooker's "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer," is one of the most played songs on classic rock radio ever!

PLUS! Music by George Thorogood and The Destroyers!
"One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer," LIVE!

Nice job Matt.  So timing is everything, very nicely done.

I have a Thorogood story for the readers of this comment.

A friend of ours did George in Santa Barbara fishing favor.  the favor escapes me but is really not important.

George returned the favor by playing at backyard party for him.  Very small town man, 'the people go to see the Stones, but George and The Destroyers go to the people.

Well done Matt.

Thanks for the comment.

George was a great person to interview. As the conversation went on, the more candid he became. A really honest guy that deserves mad respect.

I'm really looking forward to the show at The Fox.

Glad you enjoyed the interview...

Great interview.  I remember seeing George Thorogood  at the Palamino club just before Rounder Records released his fist record. He was just finished being a semi-pro baseball player and he was really wild, he jumped on our table kicked over our beer and picked by bottle and played slide with it. He did a baseball slide across the long table and leaped onto the bar.  Outside the
in the  dark thunder came eminating though the walls.
