My life as a singer.

Well, lately I have decided that I have been in hibernation for just too long. I am making a great effort to get out, do some jamms, etc. So, the one night in maybe three years that I decide to actually head out to Bakersfield's version of an "Open Mic" (at Sandrini's), the guy who runs it doesn't show up! LOL! I gotta laugh! I'm sitting there, looking around  thinking, hmmmm is this it? My friend, Mike, shows up with his guitar looking pretty handsome, ready and warmed up to do his thing and low and behold...No Open Mic. I was asked if I could set up the P.A. since the other musicians there didn't know how to set up a P.A. system. As I began, I thought, you know if some stranger were up on my stage messing with my equipment when I wasn't there, I would be really pissed. So, I decided to leave it alone and headed out to Bakersfield's version of Open Mic...KARAOKE. GO figure! But I will say that I did have a great time at The Junction. My old friend, Mac Maclanahan, aka Sax Man, was running the show. I rocked out some Janis Joplin and Guns n Roses, while my three students who were enjoying the evening with me gave their renditions of Merle Haggard, Mariah Carey and Toni Braxton. Open mic, anyone?

Sucks that the guy didn't show. That's one of my biggest pet peeves about local businesses and events: Consistency.

Glad you found another venue though.

You'll win the Bakersfield's Next Buck talent competition, and you'll have no more room in your schedule for open mic nights :)

I'll be at Bakersfield School of Music and Recording off of Golden State Freeway on Saturday, 5/24/08 at 9 am.  I'll be recording the background tracks for If You Wanna Be the Next Buck Owens, the auditon song for the competition.  If you're ready, and, if you're good, we can add your vocal tracks right then and there.

Hey Deedra!

Wow I almost went down to Sandrini's last night, good thing I didn't. In all the papers and adds, it says that it's on Thurs night. But Chrisonova says Wed.

I don't know.

Anyway hope to hear you sing soon.

Take care

Brent

Hey Deedra...Chris is usually there everytime so you hit on the off night that he wasn't there.  He would not have minded though if you set up the PA as it is all Sandrini's stuff anyway, Chris usually just brings his mics and cables with him.  I'll probably go down next Wednesday as it has been about a month since I've been down there myself.  They just recently moved it to Wednesdays from Thursdays and obviously have not updated the info on the web.

Cool. I'll definitely try to be there again!  I was sure that it probably never happens that Chris wasn't there. I just thought it was hilarious that he wasn't there the one time I decided to get out of the house. It was funny to me! I'll see you all there next Wednesday. probably. LOL.
