it was 27 years ago today...........
It's been 27 years since John Lennon was assassinated. I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when I heard the news. I honestly did not believe it was true for about 12 hours, talk about denial.

I remember exactly where I was when I heard it on the radio. I drive past that place every once in awhile and remember it every time.

John Lennon was one of the strongest voices for peace in this world that we have ever had. His voice was so strong that it is still being heard 27 years after his death. But it's sad to reflect on how little we have learned in those intervening years and how little has changed.

A guy in this forum recently tried to turn Give Peace A Chance into a pro Iraq War song. Just goes to show how far we have left to go...

27 years since his death and 47 years since the inception of the Beatles....And notwithstanding the sadness of John's murder, the Beatles music is timeless -ahead of it's time.   And helped shaped music as we know it today....

It also helped shape who I am (as a person) today.    Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band changed my life....lol......

Music has always been a part of my lief. I think it wouldnt have been so much had it not been for the Beatles. I am on my game with the trivia of them, I became a DJ for a time, I have always had music to pull me through and Beatle music was there for me. I recall that night he was killed (John Lennon)  I was working for JR Simplot Company in 1980. I was  not yet 20 then (had a few days to go (Dec. 14th).I had been working the swing shift that week. I saw this really stange orange star in the sky, thought, hmm that's so weird. Don't recall what time it was,..maybe 8pm or so. Then at the end of my shift at 12md. Once of my older co-workers came to me as I was going in to clean up  he said "John Lemond  was dead some one shot him" I thought who the hell is John Lemond. Then I heard the reports on the radio, Back then it was KERN, KAFY and KKXX I tuned into all of them to see if it was just a joke. It wasn't and I had a sick feeling in my stomach. I got home and my wife  had told me that during the football game Howard Cosell had announced it as well. Yep, I remember where I was. It was a sad time. But  we all have to not just remember that time, but celebrate the music of his. Remember him fondly don't give  the person that ended his life  any credit.

I remember where I was and what I was doing, too.  And I remember when all that denial wore off, as well...

27 years is a long time, isn't it?
