This blog will pretty much be about whatever I did tonight. Whether it was go to a show, sit on a friends couch and play Madden all night or go watch a movie. Raves and Reviews pretty much, not too many rants. Life is to short to complain about stuff, just pick out the stuff you like and share it with your friends. This is what I will try to do.

Vecar Live: @ Riley's Tavern

There's this guy my good friend Cesareo has been telling me about for the last couple of weeks.  A one man band named Vecar.  He pre records the drum and bass lines then plays it back live as he plays guitar and sings over it.  Pretty cool I thought I gotta check this dude out I thought to myself.

So I drive down to Riley's tonight (yes Riley's had a show on a Wednesday Night!).  Really, what I was expecting to see was some nerdy kid trying to be a local version of Beck.  I mean yeah that stuff takes a lot of work.  But machines now a days can make the not so talented seem kinda talented, yeah know?

I grabbed a Pepsi and took a seat in front.  Then this kid comes up to the mike talks a little about what he's about to do, and proceeds to through down.  No, bizarre sounding machine like rock n roll sound buzz and fuzz.  But some cool ass drums and bass with some shreddin guitar.  This kid looked young but he played like he grew up in the 80's just like me.

I heard heavy influences of New Order and the Stray Cats.  He was comfortable on the stage sang with passion and strangled his guitar whenever he felt it was absolutely necessary.  The crowd quickly got into the groove and cheered him on, the set seemed to get stronger and stronger after every song.  Each song revealing more and more about this mystery kids influences.  Every thing from Elvis to the Cure seemed to be in his style, and he brought it all out.

I'm totally in love with the first song he played which by strange circumstances he ended up playing a total of three times, well actually one and a half it's still stuck in my head right now ".....and we danced and danced..."

I was going to try to make the show last night but just couldn't make it. There's a downtown dude named Bobby, and that's his bro...
