Read the figures in the link above and weep. Union membership peaked in 1954 at 35%. It's down to around 8% now. Because of strong unions, real wages rose 78% from 1942 to 1980, and they have been dropping ever since. That represents the decline of the middle class. Meanwhile, income for the richest 1% of our population has increased by 150% since Ronald Reagan. That's your "Republican Revolution" in a nutshell. It's the cause of the recession/ depression we're experiencing and the cause of the current health care crisis. You cannot have a healthy economy without a prosperous working class, and you can't have fair wages and workplace equality without strong unions. Which side are you on? posted by
