The Iraq War costs us 720 million dollars each day. Think about that..... Is this the best use for our tax dollars, or could that money be put to better use here at home? Here are some ideas for what could be accomplished with that money from the American Friends Service Committee: 720 million dollars could buy health insurance for a year for 163,525 people. It could pay for 84 brand new elementary schools. It could buy free lunches for 1,153,846 kids for a year. It could build 6,482 homes. It could send 95,364 kids to head start. It could outfit over a million homes with solar panels. It could pay the salaries of 12,478 teachers for a year. It could pay for a college education for 34,904 students. That is how much money we are spending on this war in one day. It is time to stop this madness. Find out more and sign a petition to end this disgrace at: peace....
I was moved to post this old Woody Guthrie song on my Youtube Channel. I guess I was thinking about the elections. I don't support any of the clowns that are running this year. If Jefferson and Madison were brought back to comment on this election, I think would just stand there and cry..... I've always been fascinated by the history of this area-- the Native Americans, the Californios, the Explorers, the Miners, the Cowboys, the Farmers, the Dust Bowl Refugees, the Roustabouts, you can see the legacies of all these disparate cultures every day. They all sort of coexist with each other in our own private San Joaquin Valley time warp... I played on the sidewalk in my hometown of Kernville for Whiskey Flat Days for a couple hours and made 35 dollars. Beer money. Ran into a couple of old friends I had not seen in years. A great time was had by all. Adults playing cowboys and indians, and kids getting high and dancing to the heavy metal band in the park.... So why the Vigilante Man? Must be the rain. And the election. The vigilante man's day never passed. In public he's an upstanding, church going citizen. But at night he gets out his gun and club. Every four years he runs for office..... It costs the average American $275.00 per month to fund the war in Iraq with no end in sight. After six years of republican tax cuts on the big corporations, this drain on the workers of this country is dragging our country into recession. One presidential candidate, John McCain, has vowed to keep our troops in Iraq "100 years, if necesary." We must not allow this man to become the next president of the United States..... http://ca.youtube.com/watch...
