That's very sad. So how did their cars collide? Weren't they talking to their dispatchers? Didn't they hear each other chasing  the suspect (via radio) and sadly and lastly  wasn't it some minor offense that the guy ran for in the first place? All this is just very tragic.

I also think about Officer Hudnal and I wonder is is standard procedure to wear seat belts? He didn't have the detainee seat belted in, but she lived. I can't help but think if was wearing  that belt he might have been fine, I've heard others have that happen up in the canyon and they  made it through. The dept needs to  make sure these  valuable people  to us are safe.
