Teen Bands Rocked The Gate! In Underwear??

It's really annoying when BLT posts three blogs in a row when he could have just consolidated them into one here on Bakotopia. But anyway. I promised my kid I would mention his show last night at the Gate. "Dad, will you pimp us out," I think were his words.

EXCLUSIVE: CHECK OUT SHOW WRITE-UP, PICS!!

I didn't expect BLT to be there... but you never know. Even that Bako Sound sorta dude could have shown up in his cavalier new cowboy hat and denim jumpsuit.

Anyway, Dirty Spanglish has a new indie sound that I'm digging. I hope some peeps check them out soon. It was a youthful night of musack. All the bands are high school age and younger, including L.A.'s Wild Youth. Dirty Spanglish performed with them at Pasadena's Vromans bookstore during the last Harry Potter book release. Go to the DS site to listen to a rough cut of their new indie-sounding song, "Tuesday."

Other bands included the Rozzes, Abduction and Sell Yourself.

Just having fun, BLT. But yeah, consolidate! Peace!

Thanks for the heads-up on the Dirty Spanglish show........And for the record I'm sicksicksick of the multiple consecutive postings by so and so.....WELCOME TO BLTOPIA.........I'm not posting music or poetry until the oversaturation stops......As far as I'm concerned the Bakersfield Sound is the bi-product of a flatulent truck driver's collision with the breakfast special at any greasy spoon Kern County U.S.A......Support Original Music......Support Young Musicians And Artists..........Peace.............

I posted a piece with lots of pics on my Paperback Writer blog... It's titled, "The Night Teens Rocked: Wild Youth, The Rozzes, Dirty Spanglish and Abduction in their Underwear." I wish everyone could have been there to see that!

I'm sad. BLT was a freakin' no show. At least I went and looked for him once for a possible ABC23 news story. I had heard he was wandering down Buck Owens Boulevard with a guitar. Maybe he's on vacation.

We all have to self promote, that's for sure. It's not like the world comes to us. We have to go do it. Good luck to everyone who is trying hard to get the word out about their art.

That's where the grey area comes in. Is this site about self-promotion on the individual level or as a community. I really don't like when people click me as a "friend" and then only post banners about their up-coming projects. I enjoy the online community of people. I didn't think this site was a Bakersfield version of "link'd In." I thought this was a nice local forum to discuss whatever and hear about stuff the average visitor would be interested in. There's self-promotion, then there's whoring yourself out to whomever will listen.

As a photographer I know the importance of self-promotion, but I don't go around name dropping every chance I get, beating people over the head with my work or filling you all in on the latest and smallest tidbit of my business.

Maybe I should?

Wasn't my kid. Wasn't my kid's band. But, if my kid ever dropped his pants and performed in his skivvies I would just laugh. He doesn't do drugs. He doesn't drink. So why would I mind?

lol no reason.

Bathing suits show more skin... As long as private parts aren't shown, I wouldn't care. It's not in my kid's nature to do that anyway. That's probably why he has never done it. But you're laughing because I wouldn't mind. Yet you're the mom of little Rickey. Now that's a kid that when he's 17 you better watch out for. He might pull down his pants and his skivvies and rock out! He's a whirlwind I tell you...I mean look at his dad... Big Rickey is crazy I tell ya... but I still love him...even though he's a zombie film warlord.

haha yea i know you are right about that. i already do have to watch out for his crazy ass.... his dad too, his dad threw a bouncy ball at me last night...... his dad is a retard. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA freakin red heads.

im not sure if he will play music or not, he might, he is a big johnny cash fan, he has a guitar and wrote "johnny cash" on it and sings, i shot my woman down. so who knows! hahahah ohh dear
