Attempted Abduction of a teen/preteen in Porterville (4 attempts so far!)
I know I usually post funny stuff but this is no joke. March 30th I got a message on my answering machine at home from the principal of my kids school. The message basically said there was an abduction attempt reported off Olive St (in Porterville). Two girls were offered a ride by a guy in a brown car. They refused, then the guy demanded that get in. So they ran to the Police Station and reported it. The next attempt was just a few days later. (Well it seemed like a few days, it was probably more like a week or so.) Same thing. Brown car. The kid ran. The third attempt I actually heard about on my way to Las Vegas on Thursday. This particular attempt really hit close to home LITERALLY, if the others already hadn't scared the hell out me. The third attempt was a block from MY neighborhood. A BLOCK. ONE BLOCK. I called my sister in law who was in charge of my kids while we were vacationing and told her, "Hey this is probably gonna sound like a silly request, because I know you already do... but PLEASE take extra care of my babies while I'm gone. And please make sure they don't walk home. I just got a call about a third attempted abduction. Same guy, same car." She giggled a little, because my kids are too young to walk home (6 and 7) but then on a serious note she promised me she wouldn't let them walk home and she would take extra care of them. Now, I just got another call from the school. A fourth attempt. This time it was a red truck with a white camper shell. Before I thought, "they will find this guy in NO TIME! I mean, come on! The idiot is stupid enough to use the SAME CAR? This will help the police find him, I'm sure, right?" Now with the car change and it possibly being the same guy, well, he's getting harder to look for. This is getting scarier and scarier by the minute. **EDITED TO ADD THE OFFICIAL PORTERVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE PRESS RELEASE

Sounds like it's time for a good ole WITCH HUNT! I say beat the crap out of him if he's caught by "the people". Richard Ramirez ,"The Night Stalker", was stupid enough to try his crap in East L.A. back in the 80's, and the "eses" had a workout with him.

This morning there was a cop by Teenage Twinkie's school. So I assumed it was because of this asshole but there wasn't one by the Baby Boy Twinkies school that I could see, and there wasn't one by another school I drive by to get to work. The only thing i can think of is: Anyways.. after I dropped Teenage Twinkie off and turned back around to head for work the cop had a RED TRUCK pulled over. (that's the last known description of the pervert asshole kidnapper) I feel sorry for anybody that owns a red truck or brown car right now, because I'm sure they are getting stared down by people like me and getting pulled over by the police! posted by

I'm the same with my little ones. I honestly don't know what made me this way. My older two kids remind me of when they were little and I wasn't as paranoid. My hubby thinks I'm nuts. ha. He keeps me grounded. Like when I say "no" to school camp he says YES. He kindly reminds me that you can't deprive your kids of typical youthful fun just because you have issues. And while I know this... it's still hard for me. I wouldn't even let my boys play out in the front yard 'till this past year, and even then I have to be outside watching them. Though lately I was getting brave and letting them outside but I'd have the window open so I hear them. Now, I'm back to not letting play in the front yard again. auck. But they are still not allowed to play in the street, and the poor things have to ride their bikes on the sidewalk. Or I take them to the bike/skateboard park. To my defense, however.... people drive like freaken moronic idiots through my street. I'm always yelling at them to slow down. Yes, I am crazy like that. My husband was almost kidnapped as a child, but he escaped. You'd think he'd be the paranoid one, not me. posted by

Not to make light of the situation but I find it kinda funny that the Porterville PD can pull me over for having my windows lightly tinted yet they can't catch some pervs driving around local school. Anyhow, thankfully they have some suspects in custody.

Anyhow there was these two kids riding bikes around and one, the boy fell, well, out of nowhere, this beat-up car pulls up and this guy walks up to the boy offers his help then sticks around. The boy, about 8, looked kinda uncomfortable and so did the girl.... So I got out of my car and walked toward them. He saw me, turned quickly around and drove away in his car. I stood by the kids and stared the car, trying to catch his license place. He knew I was watching him as he looked back while driving away. Then I asked the kids if they were ok. They told me "yes." I asked if they knew the guy. They said "no." So then I told them to be careful, go tell their parents what happened and don't talk to strangers... Within a minutes, a police officer drove by. I flagged him down and explained what happened. He took note and sped away to find the guy. I don't know what happened but I told my kids and my husband all about it. They felt I did the right thing. I even told the bus driver to stay alert. I never saw the guy again but I do see those kids playing....And I still remain watchful... posted by
