We're not living by Old Testament law..that has passed away and that is why the New Testament was written. New laws for the time of Christ...

Yes, God did have many people killed, and it was for not following his laws. Nothing everything in the Bible is made perfectly clear to humans, we cannot understand the will of God or why things happen. We always want to know WHAT and WHY right now, we want to understand what's happening, we want answers. But we don't always see it all or understand it all. That's why it's called "faith". You can't see it all, but you have faith that God knows what he's talking about.

Humans always look for a REASON that something happened. If we can' t see one, we make something to make ourselves feel better. We question WHY things happen...because it's life and good things and bad things happen. It's not that we DESERVE either one, it's just life. God is no respector of persons... he's not choosing one person over another for something to "happen" to.

He lets us have free will to follow him or not as we choose. He does not forece anyone to follow him. Those that break his laws will answer to Him one day. He will be the one to mete out punishment. Even when we "want him to get got right now" as a movie says, we are not in charge of who will be punished when Christ returns and we answer for our good and bad list on Judgement Day.

I'm not without sin, no one is, I have plenty to answer for myself. As many of us have previously agreed, all sins are the same to God, so I'm as guilty of sin as a child molester, rapist, murderer, liar and thief. I pray that God forgives me and shows His love and Grace to this poor pitiful excuse for a human, when it's my turn to be judged.

anyways. all of these scriptures are GOOD and prove your point when you don't dig deeper into what the bible was saying. All of them are talking about something specific and all are different. You are taking them out of context. GOD was simply telling people that they must abide by the commandments he gave them to live by. (I'm not quite sure where you are going with that one though ) The sabbath was taken away and that was a commandment so THINGS did change also so did Sacrifice, cause Jesus was the last sacrifice, he sacrificed himself for people. So Christians aren't required to do that anymore. Also Do u remember the story about LOT and his wife, how she turned into a pillar of salt for looking back at Sodom and Gomorrah? Well after the City was destroyed he took his daughters into a cave They got him drunk and he Had sex with them and they got pregnant, and LOT was suppose to be a righteous man. (i don't find that righteous at all) (2 reasons, drunk & incest) Anyways, my point to all this is Things did change with the times, at that time the SON would come thru Lot, so i guess it had to happen, and God allowed it, not because he was evil OR cruel, because of the time they lived, i guess. Of course later in the bible they had Laws against that. They also used to have laws against Eating Pigs but, in the new testament they could....

To me this is a story, a Book, a tale. As far as anyone Knows this is a made up story, but some people have faith, and you cant argue faith.

Short men with a complex are not necessarily having a complex over small "junk"... they have a complex about their height and are making up for that with a bigger "personality". For some men, being shorter than a woman they are with is less than desirable and takes away some of their feeling of being a M A N. Nothing to do with their ah, "junk"....

I'm 5'3 and a little... and I know men my height with plenty of "junk" and still have a complex about being as short as I am.

As a reminder Joe, we ARE watching our kids "as we should". Some, MANY, as you are aware, of these molesters are our own TRUSTED family members and friends... so we have been watching our children as we should.

You can do everything right and someone can still molest your child. Teachers, family members, friends, strangers that grab them off the streets, school grounds and even their own front yards.

I don't think that ANY child molester should be allowed to walk the streets, ANY where. I think the death sentence, and swiftly, is the only sentence there should be.

And let's remember, to those it is not happening to, being "molested" is just a word, it's something that happened to someone. Annie....all sins are the same, darling. (in God's eyes) It is difficult to elaborate on these types of things because we all have very different backgrounds and upbringings. I come from a Christian family with Christian values and we cleave to the teachings of the bible. There are three worlds in the bible. They are the Literary, Historical, and Contemporary worlds. Everything that we do or will do has been done. History repeats itself and one would think that seeing as we have this road map to redemption, we'd learn from previous mistakes. There are very few things in life that are for certain and among those things are good and evil. We cannot exist without either. Life is like a balancing act, if you will. As I have said earlier, I do not know a lot of things, but I do know that I would beg, borrow, steal and even kill for my children! Will God forgive me? Yes. The unclean become clean with the ways of the Lord. I am an optimist...but a very realistic one. Are some people beyond help? Of course they are, but I try to find beauty in every living creature just the same. It could be something simple like the color of the iris of their eye or the amazing way they paint a picture...those are all good things! Though I do not have to like a molester, I do have to acknowledge their existence and treat him/her just as I would treat God. Miracles happen every single day and I refuse to go to hell for looking someone in the eye and believing that he is the devil, when in fact he is really God. The Quakers believe that all people, every single individual, has a little bit of light within them. I find much comfort in this.

Though I do not condone such acts in any way, shape or form...we do have to understand that some can be rehabilitated. I understand and accept how you feel, Annie, however contrary to what you feel should be the case and what the case is exactly, as humans we are all entitled to our inalienable rights. These rights do not just apply to you and me, they apply to everyone!!! We do not live in a Utopian society where everything is beautiful. These sins of today are not new, they have existed since day one. We will all meet our maker one day and it will be then that our fate is decided. Also, as much as we hate to believe this, no one sin is greater than the next. In our society we feel that we are exempt from certain situations or behaviors, if we deem it so. This is not the case! So while Annie feels that child molesters should have NO rights, then neither should thieves or murderers however even they can be forgiven and released from inprisonment. One might be thinking, "There's no comparison!" But remember, all sins are the same! We are on our own in this world. If we love the unlovable and respect the disrespected, we might actually begin to live in a place where these things would diminish. In this Prop 8 debate, I've read many different point of views on the subject. I've heard both sides arguement and the one that seems to stick out most from the side that support the passing of Prop 8 is that the word "marriage" shouldn't be changed to include homosexuals because from the very beginning the word marriage was about a man and a woman.

Let's have a look at this:

Most ancient societies needed a secure environment for the perpetuation of the species,a system of rules to handle the granting of property rights, and the protection of bloodlines. The institution of marriage handled these needs.

Thus the start of "marriage." If you research different cultures, every culture has a different tradition to how marriage was handled but the majority was based on the concept of securing "rules" around property rights, protection of bloodlines, etc. Thus marriage was a contract.

The notion of marriage as a sacrament and not just a contract can be traced St. Paul who compared the relationship of a husband and wife to that of Christ and his church (Eph. v, 23-32).

So, then the term "marriage" was said to have religious ties.

We go from marriage being a contract to becoming a sacrament.

So, in this day and age when we live in a country where there is supossed to be a seperation of church and state, we define the word marriage as only a religious term? Well, if that's the case, I think only those who go to church on a regular basis, were married in a church, who obey every single word of the bible and live their life according to the words of the bible, have the right to use the word marriage.

Scott and I were married outdoors in a secular ceremony, does this mean that I can not say I am married to him but that I am in a civil union with him? That Scott is not my husband but my domestic partner? Since neither of us are Christians and do not go to church, does this mean I shouldn't have the same marital rights as those who do go to church?

I mean, if you really start digging into the word marriage and all of the traditions that marriage comes with across the world, there is no way for any one set group of people to define it and claim rights to it.

One reason I think we need to change the way we define marriage is that in the days of old, homosexuality was not something people understood. It was something that you hid. People considered homosexuals sinners, sodomites, perverts, psychopaths. We didn't have the enlightenment, the science to understand it, the open-mindeness that we have today. Say back then, we knew all that we know now about homosexuality. That homosexuals are just like us. They are normal people who have lives just like we do except they love people of the same sex rather than the oppisite sex.

That being homosexual does not make you any more likely to be a child molester, a pervert, a sinner, a psychopath, or a bad person than a hetrosexual. That although two woman and two men can not produce offspring together, in todays world with science and fertility advancements, with adoption and the like, a gay couple can have children as well. So, pretend all of what we know now, we knew way back then when soceity was starting to secure an environment for the concept of marriage; do you think that the term marriage wouldn't have been used to include homosexual couples? (This is of course not making any room for people who still believe it is a moral issue). But just based on the facts of what the concept of marriage is, why wouldn't that be inclusive to homosexuals? I think it would have been. But the fact is, in the old days, they didn't know what we know now and so the concept of marriage was just assumed to be between a man and a woman. And this assumption does nothing, in my opinion, to secure the right to the use of the word marriage to define one man and one woman.

I was not comparing Gay people and child molesters. Two totally different subjects all together.

I was checking the atmosphere though. I think everyone here has agreed that they would do evil unspeakable acts to Child Molesters.

In my past, I'd say the same thing. In the past.. I have come to understand there are these types of people that walk among us. I also have come to understand that those people have been molested,..check the facts, Those that molest general have had some one molest them. It's ritual and it's like a chain that's why there are so many like roaches praying upon children.

I would think it's your civil minded duty to tell someone if you know of someone doing these things, That's right if your brother is doing sick things to your sister,..like i say ,..runs in families. Or if your sister (yes child molesters are not just men) Speak up say something to someone. Allow them to get help before it's too late.

Like Westley Allan Dodd they progress, they not only molest but they some time torture and kill their victims. So be a voice. Also the best way for prevention for this ugly chain to continue is to speak to the victims allow them in whatever way that isn't detrimental to them to get them to talk and get that ugliness out, so it's not manifested by doing the same. Did these kids ask to be molested? No. Neither did their victims when they grow up,..once again the chain. I won't say I feel sorry for Child Molesters Because they know that society looks down upon what they do . But I will say they are damaged, damaged by what someone else has does to them. There in is were I can feel some compassion for them. But it stops there. I think they should be institutionalized never to commit that crime again, Dodd himself was let go 3 different times before finally killing two little boys. Had after his first offense of molestation he'd been put behind bars he never would have killed or abuse anyone else.

Sadly we allow child molester to inhibit the same areas we live in.. That is OUR mistake. If we bitched about it as much as gay people where upset about the No on 8 then we wouldn't have half the missing kids we have now. Since we do allow molesters in our area we should make sure that law enforcement and Probation dept are doing their job. If we do that then we are doing our jobs as parents of our children. That alone should work. We as parents need to ask, question, check on our kids constantly daily making sure we know where they are at all times,..call the neighbors house ask to speak to your kid,.know your neighbor better than yourself. I call Megan's Law the lazy parents law because some how parents thing that can check their neighborhood to see what pervert is roaming the neighborhood. and feel safer. Like I said it's usually not a stranger that hurts your kid. Watch your child, don't expect the law to do it.. Don't think all the child molesters are in the data base either, they aren't,. They sometimes slip through the cracks. I also think that Megan's law has caused some people to attack people trying to move forward and live their lives. Are we any better to attack those people for what they've done? no we are not. their day is coming. I would think we shouldn't past judgment upon them (yeah i know it's hard not to) The Good Lord said this about anyone that hurts a child.

Much like Alcoholics trying to get past their addiction,, some child molesters are trying to do the same. So it's best to cut a big swath and leave them be. Not harass and bug them. Some are repentant in what they've done and sadly I suppose some are not..

What happened up north is not something agree with. I don't think TV crews should have came out and hassled the guy. I'm sure they showed up unannounced. Wanting sensationalism , serious big time reactions. Don't think the media is any better than the guy they came to see. I've seen some pretty despicable things done , being in the media and interning in the field in my younger days. I remember a guy that would should the scene of a homicide and shoot the long shot of the scene with the police tape up and he would be off cam lightly flipping the tape to make it look like the wind was blowing the tape. Just to paint cool picture. that's minor but I think you get my point. To titillate and excite the viewer, as if to say "Wow what happened there!!!" . I think the reporters knew their situation when they roiled up to the man's place and stuck a camera in your face. Have you ever lost a loved one and the news was there and wanted to interview you? "so how do you feel that so and so is dead!" Cameras in your face. Well that's how they are. No tact or remorse. Now put the two together and you get a big, nasty synergistic reaction! I don't condone this man coming at them with a box cutter,..and yes he was charged. But they should have been charged as well for eliciting the whole thing anyway.. Do I think his human rights were violated ,.yeah,.I do. we don't know his heart, maybe he was honestly sorry for what he did. Was it someone else's responsibility to treat him badly ( IE: the media) no, it wasn't. We live in America where we have laws. Laws to protect everyone the good the bad and the assumed not guilty until proved guilty. As the news,.ahem said later on that night he had been checking in and doing what he was supposed to. As I said before if you don't want former convicted child molester roaming around that's your job to change it. But not to denigrate yourself to the level of someone that did unspeakable things

I think of a few people here in Kern County that were wrongly accused of this crime. One has had a film about his life in those days just come out.. I dated a woman that her brother was accused around that time and he was wrongly accused. He was one of the families in this town that was on the news every night. This was the witch hunt of the 80's. With McMartin and Kern County leading the media circus. Don't get me wrong I didn't say every child molested turns into a molester. But there is a good number that do sadly.

So I think you can see how I feel about this subject. This type of person is the lowest of the low anyone above that level has to be in better company. So you can see I don't condone this type of behavior but at the same time. have compassion for them

I know this is a quite controversial matter. But here goes. "Marriage" in a union between one man and one woman, ordained by God, and where chidren may be concieved. The bible does not state that "Gay people should not be married", however it does state be pure from sexual immorality ie: adultry, prostitution, homosexuality, fornication. This is not the point I'm making, so lets move on.

Changing the definition of a word in the name of rights is absurd. I don't believe those who voted yes on 8 are homophobic (scared of gay people) or hate homosexuals. I do not hate gay people, I don't dislike them. I voted yes on 8 (delete me now if you wish). I have friends/family who are gay. Elimination of anyones rights is wrong, including the "right" for two consenting adults to have a legal civil union recognized by the government in which they can receive certain benefits. I voted against the word "marriage" to be used to define a union between two same sex people. To demand a change to the definition of something that has existed since the beginning of time, in almost every country, culture and religion is wrong and I think it's discriminating against heterosexual couples to force this to be done. If the propositon had been to have a legal gay civil union in which homosexual couples could have a legal "wedding" ceremony to join in such a union to recieve the same rights/benefits and a "married" heterosexual couple (wich I do belive we already have) then I probably would have have voted for that.

Bashing of heterosexuals, Mormons, Christians, Catholics, even recently African American's for not submitting to the blatant force by homosexuals to change and therefore modify beliefs of marriage, is most definately HATE and DESCRIMINATION. To force a group of people to change what they believe is taking away freedom from those people. The requirements for marriage is one man and one woman. The requirements for a Civil Union can be any two consenting adults.

I was raised a Christian, I am still a Christian. I don't think I'm better than anyone else nor should I receive "rights" because of this. God created us all equal and all in his image. He loves us all. I don't believe he would condone anyone being hateful toward his creations. Jesus said to love thy neighbor as thyself. I say people forget this. But, in the religion I have chosen and that I believe in, says the union of "marriage" is between one man and one woman. I feel attacked that I should be forced to change that which I have always believed to be true.

A homosexual couple is "different" than a heterosexual couple in that one is the same sex and the other is opposite sex. It should be okay for their union to be named different.
