All I see are people on california protesting Bush like he's going to drive by and see them.. Where are all the people protesting agianst the man that wrongfully accused what 29 men in the 80's.. Or does it take MTV making fun of Jagel's to start another protesting trend?

Everyone has their own right to their opion and here is mine. I feel if you refer to someone as an illegal, it probably means they are breaking the law. Granted, I don't think that they are stealing all our jobs or raping our women and whatever (americans already do most of that stuff themselves. the only difference is a social security number). They are people. White, black or brown. And as every ongoing argument there are really awesome true facts about both sides of the topic. I do feel that we should protect our borders.. And do I see why mexican people want to be americans...yes.. But its the law and if we don't defend the borders then we had uncounted people in our jails, in our hospitals and in our schools... Is it fair for the people that have to go through all the trouble to come over here legally? And I don't just think we should be defending our borders. We should be investaging more about the people that hire illegally.. I hope I didn't offend anyone..

How odd it is that I should stumble across your blog on Bakotopia. I have been thinking to myself how cold it is, how there's SO many people who don't have homes, warmth or food.

I don't have a zillion free hours each day but I am a stay at home mother who's day is not totally consumed by my child and husband. So here's what I'm thinking... I have some free time and am willing to help you do whatever I can to help! Please lemme know what I can do to help my hometown homeless.

Thank you for what you're doing.... God bless you always!

They actually told us that percentage thing in Health Education in high school. I try not to think about it. The grossest thing I've seen at a restaurant didn't happen to me. I was actually the waitress. And I served an old school friend some iced tea. The ice I used was from a room in the restaurant that rarely got used. It was more for like the "overflow". So anyways, I guess the ice was infested with roaches. So he's sitting there talking to me for a while, drinking his iced tea. Then he looks down at it, and I look down at it. And it's got tons of baby roaches floating in it.

Instant Karma is right. I was recently doing research on bugs in soup. You'd be surprised what you can Google on the topic. It's scary. The FDA allows a certain amount per vegetable, per packaged foods, etc... You can find out all kind of scary information right on the NET. But, that doesn't change the fact that if you bite into a giant caterpillar in a restaurant or find weird hairs in your food that you're not going to turn blue, or green, or even purple...

Oh you people have no idea. Have you ever seen the reports from the health dept or worked in food industry?
You should see that report on the items in peanut butter. They actually allow a certain percentage of rat hair and fece's. If you went around analyzing everything you would end up like Howard Hughes with paranoia. Bacteria is a part of us people. We are bacteria. I know I know I am not saying it isn't gross, and there are a few things that really make my puke list..haha.. but you would drive yourself insane if you really new all the bugs, bacteria, fece's, virus, epethlia {skin},fingernails,{eeek}, etc
we actually intake every day.
{Do I need to go on because I have more?..hehehe
"Now go wash your hands and make me a cheese sandwhich" haha ~~old joke but a good one

Once I ate half a big, black stink bug embedded in a fudgecicle. I looked at the half eaten carcass. I accidently swallowed the other half, then tried to play it off so know one would notice. I took it to the lady at the counter, and she had to announce it to the whole world. She gave me another one. Yes, I still ate it...I'm ill.

Why We Should Secure Our Borders!

Well no matter how dangerous or difficult the trip across the Sonora Desert may be, or how difficult a life one will have once they arrive here, the truth is that conditions are far worse in Mexico. Matt is correct: Go to where the bread is.

The issue of protecting our country from Mexican immigrants is completely ridiculous. How many Mexican Terrorists have there ever been? Pancho Villa raided a few Amercican towns during the Mexican Revolution. Is this kind of "terrorist" we fear so much? Maybe we should build a wall around the states where Timothy McVey and Theodore Kacznyski were born.

I don't think giving somebody "choro" for not fully cooking the "carne asada" at the "lonchera" is a terrorist crime and threat to National Security.
What should be done is give those people who are here to work and have better lives for themselves and their children, the opportunity to become American Citizens; I will be teaching Citizenship classes as soon as I knock down all this damn hoop jumping in the credentials program. W e also need to enforce border security to assure than any future humans that want to come to America for a chance at a better life, do so by following the necessary steps towards U.S. Citizenship. And, as mentioned earlier by another writer, there needs to be a plan implemented to recover Mexico's economy. Sounds easy as heck to say, but the reality is....

Another point: next time you drive off a freeway off-ramp note this: Who is trying to sell you oranges, and who is holding up a cardboard sign. One of these persons is trying to make a descent living wage the best way he can, while the other is simply asking for a free ride.

I got too much to say, so I'll just end it here...for now. "But make no mistake my friend, I will return, just like a moth to a flame."

Again... its all where you are looking for your evidence. But anyway, if you want evidence that "illegals are stealing our jobs", go to IHOP and see who they're preference hire is. If you want to see illegals "doing the jobs Americans dont want to do", go to the ag. fields.

Rodier, do you really want to get into a discussion on biased Statistics? You probably already heard of the term "Lying With Numbers" if you took an introductory Stats class. ---- You forget that this country's most dangerous "terrorists" were AMERICAN (Ted Kaczynski, Timothy McVeigh, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, L. H. Oswald, Charles Manson). These names should strike "terror" to everyone. How many terrorist "beaners" can you name? ----- You should try and open up your own small business (restaurant) and hire only hard working American employees. Pay them minimum wage if you want. Still need to give them benefits because IT'S THE LAW! Sick pay, vacation, a medical plan, overtime pay, child care! You'd be broke in a week! Illegals keep the economy afloat. ----- Just today I was at a local gas station and I couldn't help but notice how many of my country men packed that store and purchased all kinds of items from coffee to work gloves. That American owner had a big 'ole grin on his face as he raked in the dough. You hear the message? ----- Another point, take a good look at this Capitalist System and realize who the real terrorists are (Jeffrey Skilling). Two films you need to check out: The Smartest Men in the Room” and “Loose Change: 9/11”…These should set you correct!

“What is going on in America? It is amazing, and disturbing, to ride on a road and see street signs that are not only printed in English but in other languages as well. What’s more, even legal documents are now being written in foreign languages. How unnerving to walk down an American street and not understand what people are talking about. Maybe this isn’t America. I feel like a stranger in my own land. Why don’t they learn to speak English?” ----- “Sound like a stroll through today’s Miami, or San Diego, or perhaps (Bakersfield)? Good try, but you not only have the wrong city, you are also in the wrong century. Benjamin Franklin expressed this view in the 1750’s. He was disgruntled that Philadelphia had printed so many things…in other languages (German in this case).”- Sadker, “Teachers, Schools, and Society” ----- Just thought I’d share this fascinating entry I read this week.

To me the Minutemen are heroes. They are protecting our borders from Islamic Fascists, drug dealers, and illegal aliens that cost us 10 billion dollars a year. Please don't judge them; what they do with their families is there own business. If you are going to say that I’m ignorant at least state why you think that way. Even a five-year-old could call some one an ignoramus.

Whenever I argue history with people who aren't educated in history, it makes me sound like a pompous ass. So I'll just say I disagree with the blogger's reasons... like a historian once told me about the complexity and depth of history on topics like immigration: "history is a sea of books, learn to swim."

SERIOUSLY! I just did a whole research paper on this subject and all I came away with was "Illegals cost Americans Billions of Dollars a year" against "Illegals save Americans billions of dollars a year". Who do you trust? Both. They both get their statistics in a way that reflects their views... intentionally or not. Still... do you make sure your own children are healthy before you start adopting others?

You make great points, Raven. And Chase.. you too. This issue is so complex and too confusing for me. All I know is when most people talk about it it's less about the facts and more about their own racist views. At least the people I have talked to. It brings out the worst in people and then they start spewing out all these made up statistics.. I mean, for every chart you show me that says illegals(primarily MEXICAN illegals) are the reason for all of the American woes, there is another chart that says otherwise. Which one do we believe? The one that agrees with our own views, I suppose.

Why We Should Secure Our Borders!

In response to the above comment: There's nothing to suggest that the minute men are guarding the borders at cost to family time. Although it may be, I dont think thats a legitimate argument (no offense meant). Just wanted to make sure that gets in there. Otherwise, I do agree with a lot of what the post suggests. I find it odd that many Mexican-Americans will sooner defend Mexico than this country (I could name quite a few off hand that I know personally). The question is though, when addressing this, which illegals are you going to look at and base your entire opinion and legislation on. Thats something that has bugged me a lot around this subject is the inability of people to consider that there are both kinds of illegals here: those who simply want a better life, and those who smuggle drugs, commit crimes, and who in turn take jobs from low skill Americans (it happens, I know for a fact that they're not all in ag. or construction. Food service I can note in partictular). So the solution must stem from what we really want done. I must agree that it is hard to deal with your own matters when you've got others bringing issues from the outside (this ties into a lot more on the subject of human behavior but I wont elaborate right now). I think people view America as an entity that should defy all logic. America is expected to clothe and feed everyone, while protecting everyone, while minding their own business. We are expected to keep all the bad people out while knowing who the good people are and welcome them and then give them what they need, and then more than they need. Personally, I feel bad for the ol' country. Take a number of other governments and this conversation wouldnt be allowed to happen.
Also, I know a lot of people who could be termed "Racist" may support anti-illegal legislation, but it doesn't make the nature of the legislation racist. And while on the racist thing, I know a number of people from El Salvador and other not-mexico countries that would be offended if you were to call them Mexican. Racism isnt isolated to the white man with his hoards of cash and his opression of minorities. Racism is in every race, every country, and every race oppresses every other one in their own jurisdiction. Whites have been slaves too you know.

More later.

Why We Should Secure Our Borders!

I must agree with only part of it.. yes its true, not all illegal immigrants bring a positive attribute to our society. However, since I read your post with all your fancy graphs then I feel I also have the right to state how I feel about the situation:

1. Though illegal immagration IS a problem, its not the worst, why are the minute men so willing to spend so much free time and money gaurding a boarder worrying about strange people when the our local kids, brothers, sisters, cousins are in desperate need of attention, education and role models?

2. Though some immigrants are transporting drugs into our country why not focus on the ones that are done right under our nose. There is so much drug-traffic in our schools and neighborhoods yet somehow these kids grow up without getting caught even once. Here they are as adults, can't keep a job, live on welfare, steal, cheat, lie, abuse and raise a family whose kids will grow up and repeat the same viscious cycle.

3.There are some immigrants that have more devotion and loyalty to this country than the ones who are by nationality considered "americans"

When taking into account one thing, you must then take into account, everything.
So, what am I trying to say? I believe the law is the law and we must not break it, these laws were made to protect us. HOWEVER, people must not use these laws as an accuse to be racial, or bias. AND, if you wish to change the world, as I would hope many of us would, change it by doing positive things instead of negative.

Scandals sell. Do you ever watch the news where everything is good news? Unfortunately we as humans thrive on the misery of others. That's why we're so hooked on T.V. and movies and soap opera's and newspapers, tabloids. We thrive on that shit. If somebody else isn't perfect that just makes us feel a little bit better about our own imperfections.

The Attack On The Church

I think, upon reading these articles, that people may begin to point out that Christians are being persecuted and that there is something wrong and isolated about it. Still, I think people need to keep in mind that its not isolated to Christianity, rather, it's relavent to religion in general all throughout human existence. Having said that though, I think the athiest in San Diego needs to get over his psuedo-revolutionary complex. When put into the context of death, the cross to me simply symbolizes death, but doesnt translate to me as Christian dominance. So in that case, the cross in SD shouldnt be tying up our court systems. Under the arguement of "seperation of church and state", I think he would have a much better case were he to attend one of Bakersfield's city council meetings.

Woof Woof Hey you are so right about the Cemetery on the hill..it is very active..we have recorded voices when no one was around. And have picture of whiffs of vapor and orbs.As I said it is a very active place. And this can happen in the day time just as well as the night. {If you decide to go at night go only opens hours for the Cemetery, they are beginning to close it down or patroling at night because of some issues they have been having..or you can ask for permission to go in late} A lot of odd things happen there. Thanks for the info..:)

Oh HELL NO! LOL that's crazy. I can hear it now.... my husband will try to convince our little boys that what they REALLY want for christmas is one of these new and improved gaming systems. GREAT! As if a PSP, X-box, and Playstation 2 isn't enough. I need an expensive hobby dammit. Everyone in my household has one except for me. I'm the boring one.
