OK I feel bad because I haven't been posting much but I have to throw my 2 cents in on this one. I've been into bikes on and off through out my entire life, usually the off parts are not by choice but because of other things out of my control. When I was 18 I road from bakersfield to Ny on my 600, people thought I was crazy... maybe so but it was a once in a lifetime experience ( at least for now ). My fav bike is a newer bike that has been released called the Triumph 675, yes a race bike but they stayed with the traditional triumph 3 cyclinder. I love the underdawg in anything and things that are different. Like thier sloggon "go your own way", triumph has been different in a world of many bikes that tend to copycat. But altimately I love bikes, doesn't matter what it is. There is something that I love about seeing someone on a old BSA rocket with a little rust crusing down the street, they have the spirit to ride no matter what it looks like. That and I know that everyone who has a bike that looks a little worse for wear would love to have a show bike.-Pluto

Even God must have an "imperfection" if you will. "God" is the purest form of Good whereas "Satan" is the purest form of Evil. They are two opposites that are each necessary for the other to exist. Such as is the pull between mind and body... or moreso, spirit and body. The physical pushes for its own survival and whichever you feed the most, the other will feel the effects. The question pertaining to that is, what is your goal in dealing with the two?

I Love Bikes, all kinds, The artistic expressions that create atmospheres of charachter are surely the spice of life, Holding a second only to music. Here's a few entertaining tid bits for all to enjoy! Rock on! Midnight Bugs taste Best Saddlebags can never hold everything you want, but they CAN hold everything you need. Wear Heavy Boots. You can't kick things when you're wearin' sneakers NEVER argue with a woman holding a torque wrench If you're a complainer, ride at the back of the pack so you won't contaminate the rest of the group. Never try to race an old Geezer, he may have one more gear than you. The size of the PISTON don't tell you nothin' about the DEPTH of the stroke. Home is where your bike sits still long enough to leave a few drops of oil on the ground. You'll get farther down the road if you learn to use more than two fingers on the front brake. Routine maintenance should never be neglected It takes more love to share the saddle than it does to share the bed. The only good view of a thunderstorm is in your rearview mirror. Never be afraid to slow down. Only Bikers understand why dogs love to stick their heads out car windows. Bikes don't leak oil, they mark their territory. Never ask a biker for directions if you're in a hurry to get there. If it take more than 3 bolts to hold it on, it's probably crucial. Anything that shows up on more than 2 bikes is a FAD. Remember that you will be judged by the Horse you rode in on. Don't ride so late into the night that you sleep through the sunrise. Pie and Coffee are as important as gasoline. The number of kicks it takes to start your bike is directly proportional to the number of spectators. Never ask your bike to scream before her throat is good and warm. Sometimes it takes a whole tankful of gas before you can think straight. If you want to get a job, you may have to compromise your principals. You may even have to shave. Riding faster than everyone else only guarantees you'll ride alone. Never hesitate to ride past the last street light at the edge of town. Never mistake Horsepower for staying power. A good rider has balance, judgement, and good timing. So does a good lover. A cold hamburger can be reheated quite nicely by strapping it to an exhaust pipe and riding forty miles. Never do less then Forty miles before breakfast. If you don't ride in the rain-you don't ride. A bike on the road is worth 2 in the shop. Respect the person who has seen the Dark side of motorcycling and lived. Young riders pick a destination and go... Old riders pick a direction and go. Overconfidence can be supplied by spare spark plugs, a set of wrenches, and a roll of toilet paper. Never offer to fight an OLD geezer. If you win, there's NO glory. If you Lose, your reputation is shot. A good wrench will let you watch without charging you for it. Advice is free and worth every penny. Sometimes the fastest way to get there is to stop for the night. Always back your scoot into the curb-and sit where you can see it. Work to ride-Ride to work. Whatever it is, its better in the wind. Two lane blacktop isn't a highway-its an attitude. When you look down the road, it seems to never end-but you better believe it does. A biker can smell a party 5,000 miles away. Winter is Natures way of telling you to polish. A motorcycle can't sing on the streets of a city. Keep your bike in good repair: motorcycle boots are NOT comfortable for walking. People are like Motorcycles: each is customized a bit differently. More races were won in the tavern than on the track. Never loan your bike to someone else, and never ride another's. If the bike ain't braking properly, you don't start by rebuilding the engine. Motorcycling is a giant game of Mines Bigger than yours! Remember to pay as much attention to your partner as you do your carburetor. Sometimes the best communication happens when you're on seperate bikes. Well-trained reflexes are quicker than luck. Good coffee should be indistinquishable from 50 weight motor oil. The best alarm clock is sunshine on Chrome. Learn to do counterintuitive things that may someday save your butt. The twisties-not the superslabs-seperate the bikers from the squids. Beware the biker whose ink peels off. New leather don't smell right. When you're riding lead--don't spit. If you really want to know what's going on, watch whats happening at least 5 cars ahead. Don't make a reputation you'll have to live down or run away from later. If the person in the next lane at the stoplight rolls up the window and locks the door, support their view of life by snarling at them. Smoke and grease can hide a multitude of errors, but only for so long. A friend is someone who'll get out of bed at 2am to drive his pickup to the middle of nowhere to get you when you're broken down. If she changes her oil more than she changes her mind--follow her. The thicker your oil, the hotter you can take it. Catchin a June bug @ 70 mph can double your vocabulary. If you want to get somewhere before sundown, you can't stop at every tavern. Theres something ugly about a NEW bike on a trailer. You can always hear a classic open primary-it sounds like $1.34 in change is loose in the friction plates. Hunger can make even roadkill taste good. You gotta be smart enough to understand the rules of motorcycling, and dumb enough to think the games important. Don't lead the pack if you don't know where you're goin'. If you leave without one of your group, you better hope he doesn't catch up at the next stop. Sleep with one arm thru the spokes and keep your pants on. Practice wrenching on your own bike. Everyone crashes. Some get back on. Some don't. Some can't. Three things can't be trusted: a fart, a cook, and a rear view mirror. Beware the biker who says the bike never breaks down. Some bikes run on 99-octane ego. Owning 2 bikes is useful because at least one can be raided for parts at any given time. You'll know she loves you if she offers to let you ride her bike.Don't do it and she'll love you even more. Don't argue with an 18-wheeler. Don't lean on the horn 'til you're out of danger. Then blast it for all you're worth. Never be ashamed to unlearn an old habit. Maintenance is as much art as it is science. A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of gasoline. If the countryside seems boring, stop, get off your bike, and go sit in the ditch long enough to appreciate what was here before the asphalt came. If you can't get it goin with bungee cords and electricians tape-it's serious. If you ride like there's no tomorrow-there won't be. Bikes parked out front mean good chicken-fried steak inside. If you want to complain about the pace being set by the road captain, you better be prepared to lead the group yourself. Gray-haired bikers don't get that way from pure luck. There are drunk bikers. There are old bikers. there are NO old, drunk bikers. We don't need no steenkin' weekend warriors. Thin leather looks good in the bar, but it won't save you from "road rash" if you go down. The best modifications cannot be seen from the outside. Always replace the cheapest parts first. You can forget what you do for a livin when your knees are in the breeze. No matter what marque you ride, it's all the same wind. It takes both pistons and cylinders to make a bike run. One is not more important than the other.

I agree with that. Immigrants can do the productive thing w/out learning English. I do think it is necessary to know the language of the nation you're so desperate to join. Otherwise, it comes across as more of a takeover than a migration. I think they should all learn english but we should still push for other languages to be learned. The length of that though should end where we begin to accommodate those who just dont speak english (which does often times stall the learning process for those who already do). More late.

INTERESANTE! I JUST FINISHED WATCHING A SEGMENT ON SOME NEWS CABLE BROADCAST ON THE IDEA THAT IMMIGRANTS "MUST" LEARN ENGLISH IN ORDER TO ASSIMILATE FULLY INTO THE U.S. STILL OTHERS WERE PUSHING FOR AN "ENGLISH ONLY" LAW. I HAVE BEEN DOING RESEARCH OF THIS TOPIC. I HAVE ALSO BEGAN TO READ ON THE ISSUE OF "RACE" IN THE U.S. MR. CHASE, I HAVE YOU TO THANK FOR MOTIVATING ME TO LOOK DEEPER INTO THIS ISSUE. I HAVE TO SAY I AM LEARNING A LOT ON THE SUBJECT. IT IS MORE OF A SOCIOLOGICAL PHENOMENON. OUT OF MY FIELD, STIIL VERY INTERESTING. WHEN ALL IS SAID & DONE, HOWEVER, SOCIOLOGY BEGINS WHERE HISOTRY ENDS. I'LL HAVE MORE IDEAS TO CONTRIBUTE AS SOON AS I AM DONE READING BOTH OF THESE BOOKS("HARVEST OF EMPIRE" by Juan Gonzales and "CHANGING RACE" by Clara E. Rodriguez). MY PRELIMINARY THESIS: 1) IMMIGRANTS SHOULD LEARN TO SPEAK "ENGLISH" AND LEARN THIS COUNTRY'S HISTORY. HOWEVER, AN IMMIGRANT CAN LIVE A PRODUCTIVE LIFE IN THIS COUNTRY WITHOUT EVER SPEAKING A WORD OF ENGLISH. 2) THE "ENGLISH ONLY" IDEA IS A FAR FETCHED DREAM! THE U.S. ONCE ATTEMPTED TO IMPLEMENT THIS LAW ON PUERTO RICO (THEY ARE AFTERALL, "U.S. CITIZENS WITHOUT VOTING RIGHTS, RIGHT?). IT WAS A DOOMED IDEA THAT FELL FLAT ON ITS' FACE. WHERE THEY ALSO PLANNING ON BANNING "TELEMUNDO", "LA OPINION", "TEVE-NOVELAS", "SHAKIRA", CLOSING DOWN ALL THE CHINA TOWNS??? I COULD GO ON AND ON BUT...SCREW IT "EL CALIFORNIANO", "SABADO GIGANTE", SHUT DOWN EAST L.A., ELIMINATE SECOND LANGUAGE CURRICULM FROM HIGH SCHOOLS??? OK THAT'S ENOUGH. I'LL GET BACK AT THIS TOPIC WITHIN A WEEK AS SOON AS I HAVE A DEEPER KNOWLEDGE ON THE SUBJECT. HASTA ENTONCES, EDUCEN SU MENTE. "PAZ"

Well.... if you believe in God, and you believe his word... then we were created in HIS image. Which means he's a higher power, but not necessarily perfect. I guess you could say I'm semi-agnostic. Or on the fence. When I sit there and think about something as awesome as the miracle of birth, or something as random as photosynthesis(sp?), I think..... God is GREAT. Other times I wish he wouldn't have allowed us free will. LOL Then again, without it would life even be worth living? We're flawed, but if he created us, what does it make him? Damned free will..... it screwed us. LOL

I never thought the protests were a waste of time, I just think that most people dont understand anything (both sides of the fence). Unfortunately the kind of thinking that plagues this nation is going to drive us to a very crippling state sometime down the line. I'm not talking about the point of views specifically, but how we all get from point A to point R. I apologize, I've been in a very cynical mood toward our society as of late.

Although now out of business, The Indian motorcycle was my dream bike. They made about 14 bikes in their last production run about 3 years ago when they filed for bankruptcy. They had solved their fuel problems by going to fuel injection. I waited them out for 8 months after the bankruptcy then had to settle with a new Harley Dyna Super Glide. Well I shouldn't say settled, because its a great bike and very dependable. My wife bought a new 1200 Sportster Custom Low Rider. Very nice. Rock-on.

I agree with that. Although I personally believe there is a higher authority. However, that does not mean that I am convinced as to who it is. My speculation is that we ourselves are part of the ultimate being. I rather enjoy the idea of humanity being the multiple expressions of God.

I have a friend who was in so many accidents... but none were ever her fault. As least not on paper. "Why does this always happen to me? Stupid drivers" Finally after her fourth accident in a very short time span, she was forced to take a defensive driving course. And it changed her perspective. YES, there are drivers out who run the stop lights, or cut you off, or break at the last minute to make a left turn. BUT if we did our parts and always kept our senses alert and eyes open and kept our distance from distracted, crazy drivers, we could be avoiding a life altering accident. Thank you for that reminder. I think sometimes we think we are safe in our enclosed little shells with wheels but we're not.

Yeah, that is much like a lot of things. Its an identity over a belief. Seems to me that if you truly believe, you wouldn't have a problem giving up everything the bible says to. If you truly believed, then you would "know" that something better was in story.

I agree. Sometimes we fall into the trap of worshiping or "believing in something" because our parents did. We were once having a discussion at work about Catholic beliefs and I told my coworker Catholics believe that Jesus is God. She said, "no we don't" I said, "I'm pretty sure you do". So she called her mom. An aunt answered, so she asked her, and the aunt said, "Yes, the trinity is all God, one person. One entity" My coworker was like, oh. ok. Let me talk to mom. Her mom said, "NO, Jesus is God's son, then there is God, and the Holy Spirit." She hung up,and said, "well I don't know WHAT we believe in, but I do know that I was born Catholic, therefore I AM Catholic." In her case, it wasn't a sense of community it was more a sense of familiarity. It was more of a statement of who she was. I am Mexican. I am German. I am short. I am tall. I am Catholic.

I'm still trying to understand the human need for community. I understand that we do need it, but what intrigues me is the level of dedication one has to certain categories of their lives when it is majorly based off of familiarity. This does tie into my thoughts on religion, something I often accompany my observation of religion with.

I got a phone call once from Bill Clinton. He wanted me to vote against somebody, I forget who. I was too excited hearing his voice to listen to what he was actually saying and to realize it was just a recording. It wasn't until I asked him where he wanted to meet to continue talking about this subject and he hung up on me that I realized.... doh!

Religion.

I USED TO think religion is a way to get people with the same goals together. Sometimes I still do. That goal being... wanting to learn about God and his greatness, and learning how to be good people, and gaining the support of your peers who are in fact working towards the same goal. Unfortunately, we are not perfect. Therefore, our greed, anger, hate, get the better of some of us. This is especially true of, but not limited to the people appointed to run the churches. This of course perverts the church, and it becomes a means to gain control and power over the masses. I think in a perfect world, religion is great. It's an organization that people need to help guide them in the right direction. Unfortunatly, it stopped being that a long time ago, due to imperfect people running it.

It placed their other tenants in danger? What tenants? The ones that are closed by the time Rockin Rodeo opens their doors? That's about a laugh and a half. I don't blame the owners of the building either though. Why didn't the owners of Rockin Rodeo front the cash for added security? Wouldn't it be their responsibility? The fact that the council members are pleased cracks me up. Maybe they own a lot of downtown bars and they welcome the added busines? LOL I can't say I'm sad they are closing down. I never did enjoy going there. I prefer the smaller more intimate places in Bakersfield. But that comment from the council members DOES crack me up.

If it's a full blown party, then somebody is likely to end up drinking and driving. However, if it's the "safe environment" idea, then if you buy your kids the drinkies, they will understand that they should keep it in moderation and not get out of control with noise and such so that the cops do have to come by. Think party vs. kickback I guess. All this means is that the RESPONSIBLE cool parents are going to have to be more toned down when allowing this to happen.

The problem with those other type of cool parents is that while my kids might be put off by the thought of finding somewhere unsafe to "party" they might be more willing to break MY no drinking policy if they have a safe place to do it. So now, as a grown up who is NOT related to my child... what gives those cool parents the right to help MY child break MY no drinking rule.. just so that THEIR child can party safe? Having said that, those cool parents won't really be affected by this law because quite frankly, who's going to rat them out? The kids? I don't think so, then they won't have anywhere to drink.

I haven't read the DaVinci code, but I am reading the Templar Revalation. Basically, its the researched material that the DaVinci code author stole his idea from (which, from what I understand is currently being brought to court). Anyways, this isn't directly related to the movie itself, but if those people truly had the faith that they claim, wouldn't they believe that God will shine light on the "weak minded" christians. To me, those who are "deceived" by the movie, and end up following a different path altogether were never under Gods blessing in the first place, right? I could go on, and I could have elaborated a little bit better on what I was saying, but maybe this will spark some conversation that I can work off of.

I don't know where you are intending to go with this. Did somebody call you a racist? Or are you claiming here and know that you are a racist? I think you are being sarcastic. I don't believe you are a racist and I don't think you see yourself as a racist. Well, whatever your intentions for such a comment, we'll soon see. I had recently took it upon myself to define racism. I will admit that after doing the preliminary research, I found that my initial thesis was all wrong. And, I used a very simple source that changed my views on who is a racist - the dictionary. I was called a racist after posting an entry on NL Belardes' site and I immediately jumped at the issue. That way I intially saw it was that racism needed that following ingredients: 1) The belief that your language, history, religion, culture, and government is superior to all others. 2) Manifest Destiny. I was attempting to explain that Mexicans can not be racist because we don't feel more superior to Canadians, Egyptians, Vietnamese, Italians, and you get my drift. And, we have never had a sense of Manifest Destiny as was the case with the U.S. many semesters ago. Being called a racist was therefore ridiculous. Mexicans could only be racist in the fact that some Mexicanos feel cultural superior to our own Mexican indigenous people. We have a long history of oppressing our own ancestors. That is all. But then I looked up the definition, of all elementary places, the dictionary. The dictionary describes racism as: 1) The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others. 2) Discrimination or prejudice based on race. It was this second definition that ended my thesis. If we follow the second definition, well, any race in the world can be racist, including Mexicans, Ethiopians, Vietnamese and any other third world country that has been oppressed by the Western World. Still I maintain, I am not a racist...an extremist, yes. What do you think?

I thought you would like to read this. I had learned much more in Mexico. I told him I learned that the problem of illegal immigration stems mostly from the fact that Mexico has conveniently decided to use the U.S. as its dump for those Mexicans it rejects as -in the words of a cynical Mexican politician- “social refuse”, and then uses them not only to generate national revenue from remittances, but also to attempt to cause menacing disruptions in the American fabric. (Mexican president Vicente Fox has publicly boasted “…I am the President of 100 million Mexicans in Mexico and 20 millions Mexicans in the U.S.”. Then Mexico uses LULAC, La Raza, MEChA, the Mexica Movement and other racist and irredentist entities operating within the Chicano community to in effect control those of Mexican descent in the U.S.)	There is an enormous number of Americans who have been harmed by the criminals who pass through the nation's open borders. For that reason, this section can only provide a symbolic tribute to the many unnamed victims who have been killed, raped, robbed, crippled and otherwise personally violated. It is particularly shocking that even in post-911 America, the government still refuses to protect the people in the most basic ways from the world's terrorists and criminals who enter at will to do as they please. The borders remain a sieve while the human carnage from crime perpetrated from illegal aliens continues to mount. This is long, but you need to read it. "You old white people. It is your duty to die." HISPANIC LEADERS SPEAK OUT! Augustin Cebada, Brown Berets; "Go back to Boston! Go back to Plymouth Rock, Pilgrims! Get out! We are the future. You are old and tired. Go on. We have beaten you. Leave like beaten rats. You old white people. It is your duty to die . . . Through love of having children, we are going to take over. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Richard Alatorre, Los Angeles City Council. "They're afraid we're going to take over the governmental institutions and other institutions. They're right. We will take them over . . . I love it." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Art Torres, Chairman of the California Democratic Party, "Remember 187--proposition to deny taxpayer funds for services to non-citizens--was the last gasp of white America in California." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Gloria Molina, Los Angeles County Supervisor, "We are politicizing every single one of these new citizens that are becoming citizens of this country . . . I gotta tell you that a lot of people are saying, "I'm going to go out there and vote because I want to pay them back." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mario Obledo, California Coalition of Hispanic Organizations and California State Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare under Governor Jerry Brown, also awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Bill Clinton, "California is going to be a Hispanic state. Anyone who doesn't like it should leave." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jose Pescador Osuna, Mexican Consul General , "We are practicing 'La Reconquista' in California." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Professor Fernando Guerra, Loyola Marymount University; "We need to avoid a white backlash by using codes understood by Latinos . . . " ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Are these just the words of a few extremists? Consider that we could fill up many pages with such quotes. Also, consider that these are mainstream Mexican leaders. THE U.S. VS MEXICO: On February 15, 1998, the U.S. and Mexican soccer teams met at the Los Angeles Coliseum. The crowd was overwhelmingly pro-Mexican even though most lived in this country. They booed during the National Anthem and U.S. flags were held upside down. As the match progressed, supporters of the U.S. team were insulted, pelted with projectiles, punched and spat upon. Beer and trash were thrown at the U.S. players before and after the match. The coach of the U.S. team, Steve Sampson said, "This was the most painful experience I have ever had in this profession." Did you know that immigrants from Mexico and other non-European countries can come to this country and get preferences in jobs, education, and government contracts? It's called affirmative action or racial privilege. The Emperor of Japan or the President of Mexico could migrate here and immediately be eligible for special rights unavailable for Americans of European descent. Recently, a vote was taken in the U.S. Congress to end this practice. It was defeated. Every single Democratic senator except Ernest Hollings voted to maintain special privileges for Hispanic, Asian and African immigrants. They were joined by thirteen Republicans. Bill Clinton and Al Gore have repeatedly stated that they believe that massive immigration from countries like Mexico is good. They have also backed special privileges for these immigrants. Corporate A merica has signed on to the idea that minorities and third world immigrants should get special, privileged status. Some examples are Exxon, Texaco, Merrill Lynch, Boeing, Paine Weber, Starbucks and many more. DID YOU KNOW?: Did you know that Mexico regularly intercedes on the side of the defense in criminal cases involving Mexican nationals? Did you know that Mexico has NEVER extradited a Mexican national accused of murder in the U.S. in spite of agreements to do so? According to the L.A. Times, Orange County, California is home to 275 gangs with 17,000 members; 98% of which are Mexican and Asian. How's your county doing? According to a New York Times article dated May 19, 1994, 20 years after the great influx of legal immigrants from Southeast Asia, 30% are still on welfare compared to 8% of households nationwide. A Wall Street Journal editorial dated December 5, 1994 quotes law enforcement offici als as stating that Asian mobsters are the "greatest criminal challenge the country faces." Not bad for a group that is still under 5% of the population. Is education important to you? Here are the words of a teacher who spent over 20 years in the Los Angeles School system. "Imagine teachers in classes containing 30-40 students of widely varying attention spans and motivation, many of whom aren't fluent in English. Educators seek learning materials likely to reach the majority of students and that means fewer words and math problems and more pictures and multicultural references." WHEN I WAS YOUNG: When I was young, I remember hearing about the immigrants that came through Ellis Island. They wanted to learn English. They wanted to breath free. They wanted to become Americans. Now too many immigrants come here with demands. They demand to be taught in their own language . They demand special privileges--affirmative action. They demand ethnic studies that glorify their culture. HOW CAN YOU HELP?: Send copies of this letter to at least two other people, 100 would be even better. Help us get the word out. California Coalition for Immigration Reform 5942 Edinger, Suite 113-117 Huntington Beach, CA 92649 Phone 714 921 7142 Date: 4/5/2006 llegal Immigration Costs California $10.5 Billion Annually From Robert Longley, Your Guide to U.S. Gov Info / Resources. FREE Newsletter. Sign Up Now! State's "cheap labor" costs average household $1,183 a year Dateline: December, 2004 In hosting America's largest population of illegal immigrants, California bears a huge cost to provide basic human services for this fast growing, low-income segment of its population. A new study from the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) examines the costs of education, health care and incarceration of illegal aliens, and concludes that the costs to Californians is $10.5 billion per year. Among the key finding of the report are that the state's already struggling K-12 education system spends approximately $7.7 billion a year to school the children of illegal aliens who now constitute 15 percent of the student body. Another $1.4 billion of the taxpayers' money goes toward providing health care to illegal aliens and their families, the same amount that is spent incarcerating illegal aliens criminals. "California's addiction to 'cheap' illegal alien labor is bankrupting the state and posing enormous burdens on the state's shrinking middle class tax base," stated Dan Stein, President of FAIR. "Most Californians, who have seen their taxes increase while public services deteriorate, already know the impact that mass illegal immigration is having on their communities, but even they may be shocked when they learn just how much of a drain illegal immigration has become." The Costs of Illegal Immigration to Californians focuses on three specific program areas because those were the costs examined by researchers from the Urban Institute in 1994. Looking at the costs of education, health care and incarceration for illegal aliens in 1994, the Urban Institute estimated that California was subsidizing illegal immigrants to the tune of about $1.1 billion. The enormous rise in the costs of illegal immigrants over the intervening ten years is due to the rapid growth in illegal residents. It is reasonable to expect those costs to continue to soar if action is not taken to turn the tide. "Nineteen ninety-four was the same year that California voters rebelled and overwhelmingly passed Proposition 187, which sought to limit liability for mass illegal immigration. Since then, state and local governments have blatantly ignored the wishes of the voters and continued to shell out publicly financed benefits on illegal aliens," said Stein. "Predictably, the costs of illegal immigration have grown geometrically, while the state has spiraled into a fiscal crisis that has brought it near bankruptcy. "Nothing could more starkly illustrate the very high costs of ‘cheap labor' than California's current situation," continued Stein. "A small number of powerful interests in the state reap the benefits, while the average native-born family in California gets handed a nearly $1,200 a year bill." The Federation for American Immigration Reform is a nonprofit, public-interest, membership organization advocating immigration policy reforms that would tighten border security and prevent illegal immigration, while reducing legal immigration levels from about 1.1 million persons per year to 300,000 per year. 1994 - California This initiative measure is submitted to the people in accordance with the provisions of Article II, Section 8 of the Constitution. This initiative measure adds sections to various codes; therefore, new provisions proposed to be added are printed in {+ italic type +} to indicate that they are new. PROPOSED LAW SECTION 1. Findings and Declaration. The People of California find and declare as follows: That they have suffered and are suffering economic hardship caused by the presence of illegal aliens in this state. That they have suffered and are suffering personal injury and damage caused by the criminal conduct of illegal aliens in this state. That they have a right to the protection of their government from any person or persons entering this country unlawfully.

First: to Mr. Mexican History buff, you sound like an arrogant ass, sure you can note that you've done the research in the field (no pun intended), but it sounds pompous the way you glorify yourself over it. Anyways, on to the issue. I pretty much throw this at every argument relating to this subject: Why are we either going "kick em out!" or "give them citizenship." Why are we not looking at compromise where it is deserved. SOME illegals are hardworking, SOME illegals make up almost 30% of the prison population, so why should all of them be granted amnesty? Why should none of them? If we have all these statistics available on them, why can we not sort through the good and the bad and grant selective amnesty. If we do a blanket amnesty, what will happen is what is happening, hoards of people are rushing the border to get here. None of them are pre-screened for disease and other dangerous elements. On the business side, think about it, if all the illegals are granted citizenship, they will quickly be out of those jobs that they are being underpaid for. Why? A new hoard of illegals will come in and undercut the same way their predecesors did. Americans will do those jobs provide they are paid better and they are taken better care of. Does this mean illegals are stealing the jobs? No, it means they are participating in the capitalist process. Those that should be taking the shrapnel for this are the businesses that employ them. I see the people who are all for amnesty and full rights as ignorant to the fact that there are SEVERAL underlying issues. I see it the same way from the other side of the battle field. Another big problem people have is seperating IMMIGRANTS from ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS. Those are the same type of thinkers who shout "they took prayer out of school" when what they did was take mandatory teacher lead prayer out. Kids can pray if they wish, they never banned that. Sorry about the tangent, I've got a lot of frustration towards people of all companies right now. But yeah, rather than find a balance of true benefit, and rather than see what IS as opposed to what you WANT to, lets pretend everything we hear is true, lets believe all the things this generation has been socialized to believe. Dont look at the whole picture now, it might just blind you.

Here is an education lesson for supernova read and learn: The fact that illegal immigrants pay taxes at all will come as news to many Americans. A stunning two-thirds of illegal immigrants pay Medicare, Social Security and personal income taxes. Yet nativists like Congressman Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., have popularized the notion that illegal aliens are a colossal drain on the nation's hospitals, schools and welfare programs—consuming services that they don't pay for. In reality, the 1996 welfare reform bill disqualified illegal immigrants from nearly all means-tested government programs including food stamps, housing assistance, Medicaid and Medicare-funded hospitalization. The only services that illegals can still get are emergency medical care and K-12 education. And yet..illegals can not file for a tax refund..where does their money go? Its goes to support the citizens of this country that collect welfare,it builds our infrastructure and it is helping the victims of Katrina through the use of FEMA money which is in essence tax dollars. I am so tired of reading that illegals take more than they give. Its a fallacy that needs to die. If you have a hard-on against illegals you need to find another excuse.

Yeah, see part of the problem with that is my boyfriend is 20 and cannot go to bars, other wise, that is where we would go here. Neither one of us is really into bike trails or colleges, so I guess I am pretty much stuck with going back to San Luis and partying with my friends. As far as the friends I have made here, we all work 4pm to midnight and really do not have time for bowling. Derned if I do and Derned if I don't. Thank you for your 2 cents though, they were a buck and half to me.

There are a lot of great places to eat here, a ton of bars, some of the best music in the world ( local !!!! ), ummm parks... and movies... and a really really long bike path.... 2 colleges... lets not forget the okie bowl for those into racing!!!! and high hopes on the new track to be built (soon I hope). Camping with friends over at pismo is always fun, buenavista lake.... I'm sure that I can come up with more but look if you read through all that stuff and your still sitting there saying "this town sucks!" well ... sorry... I love it here and the only thing that sucks is those who don't have the energy to get up and do something about it. But that's my two cents : ) if you want some more ideas on things to do please feel free to holler at me. -Pluto

Belardes' site from two oppossing parties on the immigration issue between NL & Dusty (Anti-HR4437) and Kenny & Ramona Dobbler (Pro-HR4437). It is very apparent that both groups are very educated and well-informed and they provide some very powerful insights on this issue. Check it out. It is very interesting. For my part, Nick and Dusty are ahead on points. Ya Basta!

By the way, I do live in a filthy unattended neighborhood. MY house is the only house with a trash free yard that lacks broke down vehicles. Every where around me there is graffitti that is done by the hispanic children of the neighborhood. Don't think because you "see" someone who resembles a white person that I am racist and live in a million dollar home. In fact, I am mostly Native American Indian, live in a bad part of town and treat people with respect. I am educated beyone most people's comprehension. Matter of opinion does not mean I am educationally challenged. We all have our opinions, some of us like yourself and myself choose to express them. Suck in your pride a little bit and know that you are not the only one here with a voice, we all have cares, and concerns. Mine is that I have a problem with where my tax money goes, and that Americans have to be bilingual to get jobs in a English dominated society. That doesn't mean white either. Blacks, Hispanics, American Indians, Koreans, just to name a few, there are quite a mnay people here that speak English, and myabe their own language that are sick of having to bend over backwards for one society of people. If I became a citizen of France, guess what I would learn French. So, if you feel better knowing, I don't know what you wrote in Spanish at the bottom of your comment, and I really do not care to. It was probably more demeaning bull crap from a person who doesn't want to see all sides of the brick.

A Day Without an Immigrant: Part 2

First of all, when you talk about slaves, they were brought here against their own will. They fought for FREEDOM. My great, great grandmother was half black, so don't even try the racist bull sh*t. What I am saying is there is a reason they are called illegal. They don't want to go out of their way and learn English and get their papers done. I have a friend here right now, who could get her "green card" taken away if she doesn't keep a job for 5 years. That sounds difficult doesn't it <Sarcasm) Oh and by the way, she is German. So, the illegal immigrant thing isn't just for Mexicans you freak! Think about all the people who came here and "became" citizens "legally". There are a lot of people who worked their asses off to make this country what it is. Getting these jerks who are illegal and trying to prove a point is rediculous. Their point is, we are illegal, accept us. I don't accept them. And for your information, no I do not buy from illegal's. I buy from American stores, it is ashame that some of them support illegal immigrants. It is ashame that they do not get taxed on the labor they recieve which allows them to get richer. It is ashame that our tax money goes to things like Welfare for people who have never paid a dime of taxes in this country. I do not work to take care of illegals. If you do, then shame on you! Shame on the fact that you are part of the reason our country goes else where for cheaper labor because Americans like you who do not stand up for our country allow them to think they can.

Top 10 things I Love About Bakersfield

10 things we love about BAKO: 1. Close to LA, the beach, the mountains, and the desert. 2. Lots of nice clubs: Jerry's, Fish Lips, BUCK OWENS and so on. 3. Bike path and the new park at river lakes. 4. Chewys, Chilis, Red Lobster, Sams club food court and so on. 5.GEOLOGY OF KERN COUNTY:The geological diversity in Kern County is impressive. Encompassing the southern end of the San Joaquin Valley, southern Sierra Nevada Range, central western Coast Range, northern Transverse Range, southern Great Basin desert and eastern Mojave Desert, Kern County is one of the more extraordinary county's geologically in California. From ancient volcanoes in the desert to active earthquakes countywide to ever expanding alluvial deposits to rich oil deposits to continuing uplift in the mountains, the earth in Kern County tells many stories. The land with all its history and nooks and crannies is the reason for this region's amazing biological diversity. Kern County is California’s third-largest county in land area, and at 8,172 square miles, Kern County is larger than the land area of Massachusetts, New Jersey or Hawaii. It is also larger than the areas of Delaware, Rhode Island and Connecticut combined. Elevations are at a low of 206' above sea level along the northern border of the county to a high of 8824' just north of the summit of Mt. Pinos (the summit is in Ventura County).6. Heart walk, relay for live, and all those events. 7. Gold panning, fishing, hiking, arrowhead hunting, camping, hunting, bird watching, horse back riding and rafting and boating in KERN VALLEY. 8. House prices arn't too bad yet. 9.Condors Hocky and concerts at the RABO BANK -Bob Dlyan, No Doubt, Disney on ice, Ringling Brothers Circus and so on. 10. HERE'S TO SWIMM'N WITH BOW LEGGED WOMAN! Bakersfield has the best selection of women in the world, just look at that Beer festval posting: by Matt Munoz!!!! Gallen Young wants some of those! tHE BIGGER THE BETTER THE TIGHTER THE SWEATER... Oh and Bakotoipa!!!!!!!!!!

"This movement to resist the attacks on those without legal documents deserves the support of all progressive, working and oppressed peoples. Big business and its bought and paid for politicians have created a situation where the undocumented are among the most oppressed and exploited. In this context, anti-immigrant bigots have tried to pose as defenders of the working class. Nothing could be further from reality or any sense of justice and fair play. Truth be told, equal rights for the undocumented - which include amnesty and legalization - will increase the capacity of the immigrants to resist those determined to hold them down. Every advance by those at the bottom improves the condition of working people as a whole." fightbacknews
