Special performances of the Vagina Monologues are used to help raise money to benefit female victims of violence and sexual abuse. In just ten years V-Day has raised over $50 million, educated millions about the issue of violence against women and the efforts to end it, crafted international educational, media and PSA campaigns, launched the Karama movement in the Middle East, reopened shelters, and funded over 5000 community-based anti-violence programs and safe houses in Kenya, South Dakota, Haiti, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt and Iraq.  The Empty Space has participated since 2004, raising $10,000.00 for Kern County's own local Alliance Against Family Violence and Sexual Assault.  This non-profit organization is committed to stopping domestic violence and sexual assault...
