I worked in mental health for many years and your right. Your friend was probably ill for a long time. Some stars burn very brightly for a short time and then they explode into the next hemisphere of life. Its not something they think about doing, its a drive inside them that cannot be qwelled by anything in this world. Being extremely intellegent is very draining in every possible way for some and one day the stamina just runs out. You will be going through a high gammet of emotions over the next few months. You would benefit from having someone to talk to that you can trust. You seem like the type of person who has trustworthy friends to talk to.
