About Chango

Hey Bako!

I am an East Bakersfield Boy bred in the Loma! I love the Bako bands--all homegrown on tortillas and beans! I have teenage kids and I'm proud to say they were raised on Mento Buru! I hope they get a chance to hear some of the other great bands around town!

I am Chicano through and through! Chicano means, to me, to be born in the US of Mexican heritage and be fiercely proud of them both! It means to know who you are in the two worlds you were born into and to seek to move in and out of other worlds. Our society is rich with diversity and I truly believe we are only free when we can embrace it all!

I am proud to say that my family taught me tenacity and at 30 I graduated from UC Santa Barbara with two BAs and an MA! I am back in Bako to inspire our youth to keep pushing toward higher education!

I will tell you now...we may not always agree but I can be open to learn from you if you are open to learn from me!
