My name is Deedra Patrick. I have been singing professionally since I was 17 years old.. Basically, I dropped out of college and joined a rock band. Believe it or not, my parents didn't freak out. However, I would recommend continuing your education to my students. Not everybody gets as lucky as I did.

I am thankful that I can make my living in music. Since I stopped touring I have been teaching privately as a vocal coach. This is a full time job for me, however, I still find time to continue writing and gigging.

My band was in a severe car accident while touring in 1994. We were on our way to a show in Oregon. I was busted up pretty bad and ended up back here in B-town to recover. After three years of recovery, I decided to stay home for awhile. And well, I've been here every since.

My teaching style combines years as a working singer with the years I studied classical / opera music. I'm like Janis Joplin on opera. :)

I am a single mother of an amazing little boy. He was born at only 23 weeks gestation (40 weeks is fully baked). He weighed only 1 lb 3 oz. There are very few children alive in the world today that were born like my son. However, he is healthy, super handsome and super funny. (He takes after his mom) Although, he has minor cerebral palsy, autism and deafness...you would never know to meet him. God really blessed me. I think there are reasons everything happens in our lives. If I had continued touring and signed my deal with Geffen Records, I would probably be the biggest drug addict, loser out there. Amy Winehouse all the way. But God has a reason for everything. I lived a very wild, out there kind of life. And, I am definitely not your everyday average girl now, but I do believe in fate. I use all my years on the road and in the world to hopefully enlighten the people that come my way.
