Howdy Bubbas & Bonitas! Greetings from OZ! Life is good here in the Great Pacific NW. We live 30 miles NE of Seattle, and it is flat out beautiful up here. We have a little house back in the woods, very private and really peaceful.
Before the bright lights of Bakersfield grow dim in my rear view mirror, there are some people I must acknowledge. I want to thank the thousands of fans who came out to see us play night after night. Entertaining you was an honor, something I will always cherish, and it gave my humble life meaning. Thanks to all the extremely talented musicians that I had the privilege of working with, in the great bands Madison Slim & The Nightcrawlers, The Bobby Durham Band, Straightaway, The Wayne-Seaton Band, Hired Gun, and The Sounds of Country. Being a small part of The Bakersfield Sound is an honor I will always be proud of, and working with you guys was the best.
A special thank you to the late, great Reynaldo Arvizu, for teaching me how to be a professional musician. To Monty Byrom & Bobby Durham, for showing the rest of us that in fact, it could be done. To Roger Spanke, for teaching me how to sing harmony and write songs. To Chuck Seaton, well, for just being Chuck(if you know him, you will get this). And finally, to Mark Yeary, for giving me the courage and confidence to do it my own way.
Well amigos, time to saddle up and ride. To our many friends and loved ones in Bako, you remain always in our thoughts and prayers. We miss you all more than you will ever know. Bye-Bye Bakersfield, thanks for the ride, we had a blast..................
Peace & Love, Gary Branson
