About Kinetic Distortion

Kinetic Distortion is a purveyor of multiple electronica styles including Trance, Jungle, BreakBeat, DownTempo, Industrial and House. The scope of his artistry and successful presentation of such a big spectrum speaks much for the band's deft touch when it comes to creating electronic music.

To K.D. music is an emotional gauge, a meter by which to measure the whole course of the mind's feelings. Euphoria to melancholy and back again music speaks all these things to Joseph (aka Jus Joe), providing the artist with the inspirational spark to create music that has the same effect on its listeners. Music is catharsis and this belief drives K.D. to strive to make music that touches emotion and provides an outlet for it, bringing inspiration to the listener.

Inspiration

The total environment, life in all its banality and glory, serve to inspire the creative process with Kinetic Distortion. But one thing in particular stands out the sounds of life. "If a song or sound grabs my attention and makes me examine it in every detail, it is inspiration. Most of my favorite bands are more audio chemists to me than musicians". The forest for the trees. Joseph examines the whole picture, the sum total of a song, atmosphere, feel and end result on the audience this is the key to Kinetic Distortion's sparkling songwriting. This is an artist that would rather blaze a new trail than follow in the footsteps of others. K.D. has discovered in the audio world the long sought secrets of alchemy.

And the Award Goes To ...

Kinetic Distortion won second place in a remix contest sponsored by the massive mp3.com by doing his own take on the Groove Armada song, "I See You Baby". Also opening for the likes of a number of hot Los Angeles DJs and musicians, among them Thee-O, Kristina Sky, Speaker Junkies, 303 Infinity and more. That's a form of honor in itself, to be tapped to share stage time with other important artists. Kinetic Distortion got a chance to headline at Return 2006 for an audience of more than 1,000.

Brisk as the Beats

The same catchy pace that drives the beats of some of K.D.'s music is the pulse that you'll find in the working life of Kinetic Distortion. New songs come out of the brain of Jus Joe on a daily basis and this year will boast the release of not one, but 2 albums. Trance will be the core of one of these, while the other will present the power of Kinetic Distortion's DownTempo work. Then you will also see the release of a pair of albums, one Jungle and one House. If time allows, a BreakBeat album will also be unleashed upon listeners, not to mention a release of remixes.

You Must Know This

One thing that must be understood by Kinetic Distortion is the artist's insistence on eclecticism. Such expansive artistry and energy goes into the creative life of Jus Joe that genre confinement is simply not possible. "I cannot stick to one genre; I love and am inspired by all genres (electronic, as well as pop, rock, classical, jazz, experimental, etc.) and I do not want to constrict myself to one type or style of music."

Hungry

There is one other thing you should understand about Kinetic Distortion... the hunger. New projects are always welcome, of whatever stripe. Be it television, movies, video games, remixing, touring, producing, recording. Kinetic Distortion is desirous of dipping into all aspects of the musical world.

One last word from Jus Joe: "I pride myself in having a great live set that always changes each time I perform. I improvise a lot and if something I do gets the crowd's attention, I can cater to that on the fly". It's all about realtime feedback, baby.
