Bakotopia

I'm the assistant managing editor for Mercado Nuevo, a subdivision of The Bakersfield Californian that publishes The Northwest and Southwest Voice, MÁS magazine, and Bakotopia. I previously served as editor of The Northwest and Southwest Voice.
A Bakersfield native, I went to Our Lady of Perpetual Help and Garces High School. I attended the University of Southern California (Go Trojans!) and graduated in 2002.
I love living in Bakersfield and in the Westchester area. I spend most of my time with my husband, J.P., my mom, Lynn, our cats, Aiden and Maitai, our puppy, Sadie, and my two best friends, Katie and Natalie.
My favorite restaurants are Woolgrower's, Benji's, Uricchio's, and Mama Roomba. During work hours, you can often see me grabbing a coffee at Dagny's. I also love attending events at the Crystal Palace and Fox Theater.
My favorite movies are "The Princess Bride," "Sunset Boulevard" and "Pulp Fiction." My favorite books are "To the Lighthouse," "The Awakening," and "A Confederacy of Dunces." I'm also a  fan of  "Project Runway," "CSI," "City Confidential,"  and "Lost."
