Velorio was formed in January of 07 but Ben Gomez and I (Alvie) have been writing songs together for over a year.

It seems to be luck that we ran in to musicians from our past (way way way past) that are all dedicated. The songs were learned and we started playing as Maltratos. We changed our name from MALTRATOS to VELORIO in February 07.

 As far as our songs are concerned, they really reflect our lives in every way possible... from lyrics to genres of music.

Everyone in the group has been playing music for countless years and we feel there is no limitations to what kinds of music we can produce. Now we are just finally getting the loose ends together and beginning to perform as much as possible, so be on the lookout for us coming your way!!

NOW FOR THE REAL STORY!!!!!!
One day seven beans spawned from a single bean plant and grew to become a seven headed bean monster named VELORIO.

The bean monster VELORIO came to be famous in the village of Yerba Buena for being so rico y sabroso. But soon VELORIO tired of being eaten and decided to destroy the village of Yerba Buena. He drank and drank and drank until revenge filled his soul. VELORIO raised his voice and with a bottomless baritone filled the hearts of the villagers with the purest of fears.

Seeing that there was no escape from this giant sonic bean monster, the villagers beat themselves in lament. They tore their clothes and covered their faces with dirt to show they were sorry for their ways. Death, so they thought, was upon them. But beautiful Maria Juana, daughter of the king, felt there was no need to be afraid. She said "we should give gifts to the monster," but the villagers just laughed at her.

But it so happens that Maria Juana was a bright and reasonable girl who loved nature and music. She fashioned a bouquet of sweet smelling herbs and flowers and gave it to the monster. But the monster hated flowers and herbs so he screamed till fire blew from his lungs and burned the gift. "Surely we will die!"screamed the people. But the smell of the burning herbs and flowers filled the monster lungs and soon he forgot why he was so angry. He then picked up his guitar(all bean monsters have guitars) and played sweet music. Sweet music just like sweet Maria Juana.....
