Beach Park, Bakersfield CA
3:15pm

May 1st, 2006...

Many roads leading to Beach Park were closed by the BPD, but that didn't stop supporters from continuing their march to rally for immigrant rights.

Flags from all over the world were seen and the US Flag was prominently placed atop the sea of color.

Approaching the stage, mariachi music could be heard, and guest vocalists joined  the band to sing their own renditions of classic Mexican standards.

The crowd loved the music and helped keep spirits high as the 90 degree heat had people sweltering.

The heat obviously wasn't a hindrance. In fact, most of the participants are used to much hotter weather than this.

Imagine yourself out in the middle of the San Joaquin Valley picking vegetables, slouched over for 10 hours? Whew!!

No work today! Not only was May 1st, 2006, a day to show America the value of our nation's immigrants, but it was a day to show unity among all races!

Free food and water from local vendors, music from local Mariachi San Marcos, Likhy2 and my bros, Mento Buru, could be heard all over the Bakotopialand...
