LIKHY2 band members volunteer at the March for Just Wages in Lamont that was organized by The Dolores Huerta Foundation this past weekend. I helped to organize the Kids Zone at Lamont Park were the march ended. The Kids Zone allowed for kids ages four to eleven to get involved with various arts & recreational activities while the parents listened to speakers and musical entertainment.

LIKHY2 helped with the Face Painting center. Damas and Chuy of LIKHY2 put their preliminary artistic skills to work with the help of their girlfriends, Jenny and Nonie. Camila Chavez, daughter of Dolores Huerta, mentioned that, “This (face painting) was the main attraction for the kids today. It turned out well.”

I want to thank everybody that came out to help with this event: Canni, Nonie, Jenny, Hugo, Yitzak, Damas, Gloria, and Chuy. Supporting our communities is a very important social service. Hopefully we can set the example and get more of our peers to get involved with bettering our community.

Nos vemos, Sal P.

I remember getting an email from the Chicano Book Club asking for volunteers for the event. I was out of town and couldn't help but I'm glad to hear it was a success.
