If there are any self-respecting readers left out there who  want to throw up on the next unimaginative Dean Koontz novel, are saddened by Stephen King's semi-retirement (and also thought Cell needed some more work), and who would love to have a fresh voice emerge to resurrect a paling genre, then look no further than your own beloved hometown!

Bakersfield native Kirk A. Ryan (me) has penned a supernatural thriller as good as any King ever did. If this sounds like shameless self promotion, well, you got me, I did it...but for a good reason. You see, if your last name isn't Koontz, King, or Straub, the big pub. houses aren't interested in any scary novels. I've read every book the abovementioned trio ever wrote, learned a thing-or-two in the process, and then wrote a story to equal them. And I'm not the only one who thinks so - check out my first professional review at BookWire.com - The Somnambulist by Kirk A. Ryan.

Two more books are well underway - the next one, called The Book of Smoke and Mirrors, will hit the shelves by mar-april next year. Send me an email to kirkryanbooks@netscape.net and I will find you a discounted copy of my book, or send you a hair-raising excerpt from my next release.

I need readers. I need you...

Please help your neighbor, and make this a better place for everyone!
