-August 2nd, 2006 - The Shrine Auditorium, Los Angeles, CA.

Former lead singer of legendary Spanish rock band Mano Negra, Manu Chao, made a rare appearance in southern California earlier this year..

Bakotopians: Matt, Sal P., Chanclas, Sugaaa, and Reynold, were just a few of the thousands of fans that made the trek to the Shrine, partying all the way there....

It's always cool to hear the stories told in line about the lengths some fans will go to, to see their favorite artist. One female fan in particular, had been following Manu Chao's US shows since he landed on the mainland in July '06. Others were practically begging every passerby for a ticket. The show was sold out!!!

If you're not familiar with Manu Chao's music, I recommend a listen. Claiming Basque as his heritage, Chao is a vagabond voice for the world. Songs like "Clandestino," "Mr. Bobby" a song about his idol Bob Marley, and "Desaparecido," preach social awareness, inviting the powers that be to stop, look, and listen to the world's misery.

But it's not all tear and jeers, Manu Chao's pulpit screams "FIESTA!"

What better way to forget your troubles?

Sorry it took awhile to get these up! I've been a busy Mexican this year!

Enjoy...Many of us have literally been waiting since the 80's to see Manu perform, so while I know many of you would like to see better photos, I was dancing....

You shoulda been there...word!
