INVADES...

COACHELLA 2007!!!!
April 27-29th, 2007 - Coachella Music and Arts Festival, Indio, Ca.

Well, we made it home alive, and with gifts for the eyes of all of our beloved Bakotopians!

Chanclas, Multimedia Jen, Chanclas' cousin Paula, and yours truly packed up our sleeping bags, tents, bottled water, peanut butter and jelly, baby powder, beef jerky and bottles of sunscreen and headed to get the full experience at the annual desert music and arts fest, April 27th-29th, 2007!

<<<Check out video courtesy of Bakotopian, Multimedia Jen!

Braving 100+ degree weather over three days is no easy feat, especially when you've only camped out once in your whole life like I have, but this was an experience I'll never forget.

Rage Against The Machine, Kings of Leon, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Manu Chao, Arcade Fire, The Roots, Lily Allen, Julieta Venegas, Brazilian Girls, Gogoll Bordello, and many more gave audiences a mixed bag of music and visuals that must be attended to be believed.

Imagine 60,000 people a day vibing together like it was the summer of love? Well, not to get too Woodstocky cheesy, but it was pretty incredible. Heat aside, when the clock struck 5pm, the cool desert breeze came in and cooled the crowds down. People were polite for the most part (I'm sure the sun had something to do with it,) and bottled water was relatively cheap compared to other events I've attended at 2 bucks a pop. I imagine promoters didn't want to take any chances on losing peeps out there.

We even ran into a few Bakersfieldians who made the trek out! Find their photos in the slideshow!

Chanclas and I had all-media and VIP access at Coachella which  made it a little easier to get these prime shots for everyone to reminisce with or wish they'd been there. Yes, you should have been there..

Stay tuned for my upcoming article "The Summer Music Festival Surival Guide" coming in the next issue of Bakotopia Magazine!! I also have a special Bakotunes Podcast with interviews from fellow concertgoers and campers!

Enjoy the photos!! Start saving your money now! Coachella 2008 will be here sooner than you can say "chaffing!"

Peace,
Matt

60,000 people??? I cannot possibly imagine how it is possible to enjoy music with that chaotic amount of people. But whatever floats your boat I guess! Speaking of what floats my boat... If you're into the summer music festivals without the insane crowds of Coachella, check out the festivals we'll be attending this summer: - Harmony Music Festival - High Sierra Music Festival

Don't know if you know this,...one of the main producers of Coachella lives here in Pomona, and runs the biggest music club in the Inland Empire, THE GLASS HOUSE(right across the street from where my loft is). Go figure! :D
