Although I disagree with the stance, I do understand why Bakotopia and the Californian speak of themselves as separate entities. Barks just didn't get it. She was out to paint the magazine into a corner and to taint the Californian. Her attack on the radio of "I won't let that magazine in my house!" was comical. What about bookstores? They're full of a lot more explicatives than the Bakotopia magazine, including gay erotica... does she take her kids to Barnes & Noble, Borders or Russo's? There were a few comments I wanted to make on the radio show. I was on hold but was cut off. I also had a brief post online that I took down regarding what I think is part of the "Racy Issue Controversy". One comment I wanted to make on the phone was that Inga was a little paranoid. What was wrong with Bakotopia announcing they were going to be on her show? No one was stacking the deck to attack her. She turned that into a paranoid rant. I have a recording of the entire show that I might release to back that point up. Another is that she referred to me as "Nick from Bakotopia". She had that wrong too. I'm just a user of the site like anyone else. Bakotopia doesn't pay me or any of the people who upload content to their site. There was a much deeper controversy I considered bringing to light. But that's possibly for another time. Let's just say, it's not just about a "Racy Issue".

What the heck?!?! I completely missed the broadcast. Somebody, somewhere needs to make this interview public news. I need to know what went down. Chances are I will not agree with much of anything certain "conservatives" have to share (except for my fellow Historian, NL, Of course). Ke paso, ke paso???

I personally thought Inga was being very fair considering her tendency to completely flame people. I'm far far far from conservative, but I found her questions regarding the ties to The Californian very relevant and thought it to be interesting to hear the Bakotopia crew stumble around words at that moment. I don't think she was out to get Bakotopia, but rather asking very informative questions. That doesn't mean I agree with her viewpoints though. Great Job to Matt and crew for keeping it cool and standing up for the cause!

You would think Inga would have praised Heath for supporting the sanctity of matromony and monogamy.

I have to agree with N.L. I got that vibe from Inga too. She wouldn't even let anyone talk and/or finish their comments/answers to her questions without her barging in with her scruples about the Bakotopia Mag. Too bad. -G

P.S. I'm am not offended at all of Inga.
I just disagree with the.... "cut-off-interrupt-who-cares-about-your-opinion-I-think-you're-wrong-and-I-think-this-should-be-like-this-regardless-of -the-questions-I'm-asking-you" attitude of some talk show hosts.  Kudos to the Bakotopia crew for keeping suave.  PEACE.

I don't think this should be hitting such a vein. Inga's stance and mentality is very well known and the way she handled the interview should have been expected to the up-most. Domination such as cutting people off and talking over them is a well known tactic used by EVERY single Radio and TV show host in modern media. I don't think there was anything extreme that happened to get all flustered about. Conservative radio show in a conservative town, what's to be expected? As long as Bakotopia stays true to what they're doing, there's no reason to be offended. This town will sadly probably have a "small town" mentality for the next 100 years. We'll just have to deal with it I think.

I think Inga provided a win-win situation here. Bakotopians who had never hear of her(namely, ME)  now know who she is. Also, Inganians (haha) who had never heard of bakotopia have now gotten a taste of it. A tasty, delicious one at that. And as an added bonus, R.A.T.S. (theatre) is now officially on the bako map. Who could have asked for better publicity? I think it's great.

If Inga Barks doesn't like what we do, then she doesn't have to look. I can't stand what she does, and I don't have to listen!! ... it's very easy to just turn the radio OFF. And her less-than-complimentary remarks about the Bakersfield Theatre scene only make her look ignorant. *YAWN* You bore me, Inga Barks.

It's so awesome that the term "Bakotopian" went out on the radio waves! Thanks for that free publicity, Inga.

It is commonly assumed that clergy sexual abuse is an exclusively Catholic problem that does not happen in other churches, and it is not true: In a 1983 doctoral thesis by Richard Blackmon, 12% of the 300 Protestant clergy surveyed admitted to sexual intercourse with a parishioner. So  two nude chicks on the cover of Bakotopia offends the hypocrites, maybe two choir boys would get them turned on! What the hell is to her and her hypocrite friends what they believe? Evangelists all over the television and radio preach hatred toward those whom have even slightly different beliefs. Mormons, Evolutionists, Catholics are all targets of the feverish hate. Inga Barks, the super hypocrite, states she has proven that evolution did not, and does not occur and preaches hate towards those whom hold it dear to their belief systems. What the hell is to her and her hypocrite friends what they believe? The sad eyed faces of those that have the nightmare of abortion have to face the hypocrite’s ridicule and hate, if it isn’t bad enough for them without these pigs shouting at these sad eyed families. What the hell is to her and her hypocrite friends what they believe? Evangelists all over the television and radio preach hatred toward those needing abortions and the Doctors that help them. But the next breath they support the sending of young people into harms way in the war to die with ridiculous rules of engagement. What the hell is to her and her hypocrite friends what they believe?

I didn't hear the show, as I didn't know about it in time. But, when anyone is on the radio or tv, you always tell your friends to listen or watch, no big deal there. I have to agree with JenRaven, if you don't like it, don't look, listen or whatever the case may be. I'll admit, ever since having kids, my opinions and views have changed on things over the years. Whether I agree or disagree with something, is no reason for someone else to not enjoy it.

As shared confidentially with a Bakotopia friend regarding Inga Barks......YES SHE DOES....Bark that is.As for formulating and expressing an intelligent, cogent verbalization of her "thoughts"......Small minds produce small thoughts....Thank You Bakotopia for providing an alternative to the "Barkers" and "Rushers"...Last time I checked freedom of speech was still protected by the constitution..I wonder if anyone bothers to read it before creating adversarial relationships with those with whom they disagree.....As John Lennon once opined,"They're all fucking peasants as far as i can see"....mentally impoverished beings at the whim of what they perceive as the prevailing status quo...easily led and easily duped......Peace.......
